As a Development Editor, you will be responsible for creating and/or executing project plans associated with publishing activities.
Your primary responsibilities will include: directing the development of books for the SAS Press series that are assigned to you, managing relationships with authors and internal clients, coordinating reviews for assigned books, editing assigned books. Secondary responsibilities include supporting the marketing efforts for the authoring program and assigned books; recruiting new authors; providing input on book proposals for their appropriateness and potential; and performing other duties as assigned.
Associate’s degree, plus 4 years of the stated essential experience; or
HS (GED) diploma, plus 6 years of the stated essential experience
Direct experience working with authors in a publishing environment.
Fundamental understanding of practices within the publishing industry and processes related to assignments.
Broad understanding of the technical concepts related to using SAS products.
Knowledge of SAS products and solutions.
Experience working with Microsoft Word styling templates and XML content tools.
Experience with online and digital publication formats and innovative publication models.
Experience with book marketing and using social media to promote technical content.
Strong project management skills.
Ability to work under deadline pressure, prioritize multiple projects, and meet deadlines successfully.
Ability to work independently and with a team.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly.
Good problem-solving, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to quickly understand new technical concepts.

May require minimal travel.
