SAS IT Infrastructure Automation is a dynamic environment where we apply automation to operations. As a Performance Infrastructure Engineer, you will have the opportunity join a team of engineers that support a corporate private cloud based on OpenStack and Kubernetes. This position requires a diverse set of technical skills in performance analysis, networking, and Linux systems administration. 

 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Work with team of engineers to maintain the health of the corporate, multi-region, private cloud based on OpenStack and Kubernetes clusters
  • Assess complex technical performance problems and take ownership of projects with minimal guidance
  • Utilize diverse set of systems administration and interoperability skills to optimize environments for maximum performance
  • Collaborate with business units to develop and deliver targeted technology solutions
  • Measure and correct infrastructure health while optimizing system utilization and performance
  • Document solution architecture

Qualifications

Essential:

  • Experience in analyzing general system utilizations of physical and virtual CPU, RAM, Storage, Network
  • Willing to participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation
  • Knowledge of the Linux operating environment, kernel, and libraries
  • Ability to debug complex networking, operating system, and platform problems
  • Good understanding for documenting and sharing information via papers, wikis, etc.
  • Experience creating performance optimization guidelines for enterprise solutions
  • Strong Linux systems administration skills

Preferred:

  • Advanced experience in OpenStack, KVM, Ceph, VMware 6.x+
  • Experience with Application Performance Monitoring tools
  • Experience utilizing, deploying, and/or supporting IaaS platforms
  • Experience with database technologies such as MySQL, Postgres, and Hadoop
  • Experience managing and debugging containers
