    Overview:

     

    The Advanced Analytics Testing team is seeking qualified candidates to take ownership of testing SAS/IML, the interactive matrix programming language, and IML Studio, an interactive GUI environment for data exploration and analysis. The position will also include testing responsibilities for other statistical or quality control software, as needed. We are seeking self-motivated candidates who possess excellent organizational skills and are enthusiastic about testing statistical software.

     

    Primary Responsibilities: 

    • Plans, documents, and performs functional, validation, and systematic testing for new and existing software.
    • Numerical validation includes: independent coding, cross-validation with existing SAS products or third-party products, equivalence, simulation, or predictive performance.
    • Reports defects, evaluates fix requests, and verifies fixes.
    • Automates regression testing on all applicable platforms and maintains benchmarks.
    • SAS/IML is a favored method for many of our Advanced Analytic team members to validate our statistical software, so you will have the opportunity/expectation to work with team members across various statistical methodologies, drawing on their expertise in a collaborative effort. 
    • Reviews software design during development stage and provides feedback to developers.
    • Stays current with analytical methodologies by researching literature, and participating in courses or conferences.
    • Communicates with developers, product marketing managers, and industry experts to define testing strategies and coverage.
    • Reviews software documentation and provides feedback.
    • Assists Tech Support and consultants in resolving customer issues.

     

    Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    • Excellent mathematical programming skills
    • Programming experience with SAS DATA Step
    • Programming experience with matrix-oriented languages such as SAS/IML or Matlab.
    • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
    • Ability to handle deadlines in multi-tasking environment and to work independently with minimal guidance on day-to-day work and new projects or assignments
    • Ability to think analytically and to effectively communicate problems and fixes with development peers and management

     

    Preferences:

    • Proficient matrix programming and/or linear algebra skills
    • Working knowledge of SAS/STAT, SAS/QC, SAS/MACRO
    • Statistical expertise with a complement of numerical analysis and optimization    programming experience.
    • Scripting skills for test automation, including automation of user interfaces.
    • Experience testing software, including developing and implementing test plans.
    • Experience with multiple operating systems, such as UNIX and Windows

     

    Education and Experience Required:

    Master’s degree or a Ph.D. in statistics, biostatistics, applied mathematics, or a related field.

     

    Equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience may be considered in place of the requirements above.
