SAS IT Infrastructure Automation is a dynamic environment where we apply automation to operations. As a Cloud Platform Technical Architect, you will have the opportunity join a team of engineers that build the next-generation SAS delivery platform based on OpenStack, Kubernetes, and public clouds such as Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft Azure. This position requires a diverse set of technical skills in containerization, networking, Linux systems administration, and code.


The team develops using Agile methodologies and represents a true DevOps culture. SAS not only seeks the right skills, but also a cultural fit. Primary Responsibilities

  • Be capable, creative, and adaptable; wanting to transform the way we do application delivery
  • Work with team of engineers to create the next-generation SAS delivery platform based on Kubernetes
  • Represent the SAS application architecture for integration and automation
  • Assess complex technical problems and take ownership of projects with minimal guidance
  • Utilize diverse set of systems administration and programming skills to build and manage automated systems
  • Work closely with Platform as a Service engineers to develop solutions that align with corporate research and development strategy
  • Collaborate with business units to develop and deliver targeted technology solutions
  • Document solution architecture

Essential Skills

  • Experience utilizing, deploying, and/or supporting IaaS platforms
  • Experience with SAS application solutions
  • Understand kubernetes architecture and docker containerization
  • Proven Linux systems administration or development skills
  • Programming proficiency in a modern interpreted language; e.g. python, go, etc.


  • Experience designing and deploying containerized services
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex networking problems
  • Experience with OpenStack architecture or support
  • Experience deploying and maintaining Kubernetes
  • Operational knowledge of networking and storage technologies
  • Experience developing RESTful API’s
  • Familiar with CI/CD processes
  • Experience with test automation
