We’re looking for a strong staff scientist to develop image processing methodologies as part of the Cognitive Computing R&D team within the Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning division of SAS. Our team’s elevator pitch is that “we seek to enable more human-like interactions with SAS software”. To do that, we develop solutions and tools that provide functionality such as natural language understanding/generation, text summarization, and image/video processing.
If you’re the right fit, you’ll join an innovative, agile and dynamic team designing and developing solutions across SAS’s AI portfolio. We’re a cross-functional team comprised of varying skills sets and experience, ranging from machine learning to natural language, audio, image, and video processing.
If you like hard problems, this is the team for you. If, when you read “CNN”, you think image processing, and not news network, this may be the team for you. If the word “layers” makes you think of a neural network, and not cake, well, that’s crazy. If you synthesize data structures and novel algorithms while mowing the lawn, we may be interested. If you get excited by problem solving and have a roll-up-your-sleeves mentality, you’ll fit right in.
While the title says “scientist”, and we do want someone with strong analytical and research chops, please know you will be working heavily on production software that will make it into the hands of our customers. We need a developer, and a researcher.
SAS looks not only for the right skills, but also for a cultural fit. We seek colleagues who will contribute to the unique culture that makes SAS such a great place to work. We look for the total candidate: technical skills, culture fit, relationship skills, problem solvers, good communicators and, of course, innovators. Candidates must be ready to make an impact.
