The ideal candidate for this position will join a small and highly motivated team of developers to evolve SAS’ next-generation packaging and deployment technologies. The developer filling this role must be able both to work well as part of a small aggressive team, and also work independently and take ownership for various deliverables. 


Primary responsibilities include:

  • Help to build the next generation of SAS packaging and deployment technologies.
  • Develop, support, and document internal packaging tool chain.
  • Utilize the tools developed to package software.
  • Work with the team to develop best practices.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience
  • Experience developing applications in Python, Go, or similar languages
  • Experience with packaging software for an RPM-based or DEB-based Linux distribution such as Fedora, CentOS, or Ubuntu
  • Experience using an SCM, such as Git
  • Background in DevOps / Systems Administration


  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills

  • Good technical problem solving skills
  • Flexible attitude with respect to work assignments and new learning
  • Experience with an issue tracking system such as JIRA


  • Familiarity with container technologies like Docker, ContainerD
  • Familiarity with automation frameworks (like Ansible, Puppet, and Chef)
  • Familiarity with continuous delivery or continuous integration systems
  • Familiarity with virtualization platforms, such as VMware ESX and Amazon EC2
  • Experience with Orchestration technologies like Kubernetes
