    SAS is embarking on an effort to make its products more appealing to software developers. To do that, the interests and opinions of the software developer community need focused representation to deliver audience-relevant features and community-relevant engagement. This role is all about achieving these two goals through grass-roots level outreach built on active listening, clear communication, and above all, community credibility.     In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

    • Be the SAS thought leader with respect to the evolving practice of software development
    • Define and lead the SAS software developer community engagement strategy
    • Define, represent, and advocate for the persona, use cases, and general product requirements relevant to the software development community internally to SAS to influence product development, direction, and strategy
    • Drive awareness of SAS within the software development community through direct engagement, coordination, and oversight of corporate-wide outreach efforts
    • Author content to help build, support, and nurture the online presence of SAS within the software development community
    • Provide oversight and guidance to marketing and messaging efforts targeting the software development community

    Essential Qualifications: 

    • Bachelor's degree, preferably in computer science, engineering, or in closely related fields
    • At least two years of software development experience using modern software development techniques and methodologies and technologies such as Python, R, Hadoop, Spark, REST, containers, and public clouds
    • Ability and willingness to travel and represent SAS as a thought leader

    Additional Qualifications: 

    • Proven ability to rapidly research, learn, apply, explain, and promote new software concepts and technologies
    • Strong, self-motivated organizational skills including the ability to define, work, and manage multiple priorities, commitments, schedules, and deadlines independently
    • Ability to understand and apply detailed technical knowledge while relating it back to the big picture
    • Excellent presentation, verbal, and written communication skills with people of varied technical backgrounds
    • Ability to translate software developers issues / pain points into product and service requirements
    • Ability to participate in and lead virtual teams without direct authority using excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills

    Equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience may be considered in place of the education requirement stated above. 

     

    Preferences:

    • Two years of experience in Product Management, Marketing, Sales, Consulting, or related functions in the software industry
    • Experience working directly with SAS software such as programming with SAS
    • Experience in developing, delivering, and executing business proposals
