    As a member of the JMP software development team, you will validate statistical features of JMP. As a JMP Research Statistician Tester you will work directly with developers to test the numerical accuracy of statistical algorithms during the development life cycle. Ensure quality and functionality of software code that is used to make critical decisions. Understand the needs of JMP's customer base and give usability feedback in order to make data-based analytical problem solving accessible to a wide audience.  Research technical literature, maintain test scripts and participate in the documentation review process.

     

    Essential Requirements:

    • MS/PhD degree in Statistics, Psychometrics, Quantitative Psychology or a related quantitative field including extensive coursework in applied statistics as practiced in the social sciences.
    • Knowledge of statistical methods and software tools used to analyze categorical data, multivariate data (e.g., structural equation models) as well as consumer research data.

    • Ability to think analytically and to effectively communicate problems and suggest fixes.
    • Ability to conduct independent research, gathering information from multiple sources and communicate recommendations to the development team.
    • Ability to research and learn new statistical techniques employed in a variety of disciplines and fields.
    • Ability to give specific, constructive feedback and exert positive influence.
    • Ability to work in a team environment, collaborating with other testers, developers, documentation staff members as well as technical support.
    • Ability to demonstrate flexibility in adapting to changing priorities and deadlines.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Excellent time management and organizational skills

    Preferences:

    • Experience using SPSS, Statistica, or Stata in a professional capacity
    • Experience using R, Matlab, or SAS programming languages
    • Knowledge of software testing techniques and the use of automation tools
    • Basic programming skills
