    The SAS Recreation and Fitness Center is looking to add an experienced, passionate and motivated individual to their team. This opportunity is at our World Headquarters in Cary, NC. On a day-to-day basis you will be researching, developing, organizing and implementing a variety of programs within the areas of Aquatics, Employee Services, Fitness, Leisure, Recreation, Sports, and Wellness.

     

    A Fitness and Wellness Specialist:

    • Teaches a variety of aerobics/exercise classes including yoga.
    • Develops individual personal training programs for employees, their families and domestic partners; conducts orientations by instructing participants.
    • Generates ideas for new fitness and wellness programs.
    • Assists with maintenance and improvements to current Recreation and Fitness Center (RFC) employee programs.
    • Leads wellness seminars (“Lunch and Learns”) and wellness classes and programs.
    • Advises participants on program and class procedures and policies.
    • Monitors activities in the RFC, including locker room traffic. Ensures that the facilities and equipment are used properly.
    • Performs general office duties: answering phone calls, handling employee questions and requests, assisting in facility preparation for specific activities, making copies, and selling merchandise.
    • Assists with the general maintenance of facilities. Maintains facility equipment as required.
    • May organize and direct special events, leisure activities, athletic programs, discount services and wellness events.

     

    Essential Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    • Good knowledge of recreation and fitness program development
    • Good planning and organizational skills
    • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with a diverse population
    • Good verbal and written communication skills
    • Must be a strong team player
    • Ability to work nights and weekends and occasionally irregular hours

     

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, Physical Education, Recreation or related field. Program certifications related to area of assignment (Fitness, Aquatics, Sports)
    • Two years of programming experience with fitness/wellness programs.
    • Experience teaching group exercise classes including yoga.

     

    Preferred Experience:

    • Customer service experience
    • CPR Certification
    • Personal Training, Group Fitness and Yoga certifications
