    As a solution architect in the Enterprise Excellence Center at SAS, you will be a part of a highly dynamic team that is constantly designing and implementing technical solutions to better position SAS offerings to customers.  The team leverages both established and/or leading-edge solutions to rapidly design, deliver and support those solutions.  Often there is no manual, set of instructions or internal expertise that the team can rely upon in implementing these solutions.  It is through self-initiated research, troubleshooting skills, relationships and team work that the goals are achieved.

     

    Our latest project is to build a solution for Universities and Independent Learners, SAS’ next generation of users. This solution will leverage SAS latest technologies and it is expected to be used by thousands of users for academic achievement and research.

    In addition to technical solutions, the team provides technical domain expertise in support of the field teams such as pre-sales engineering teams.  The team assesses field issues, determines the best approach for solving it and works with the field to implement a solution. 

     

    Your primary responsibilities will include:

    • Work with and implement leading edge solutions that address business needs
    • Provide technical expertise in support of field teams (presales) challenges
    • Build a trusted relationships across R&D, IT, Product Management, Product Marketing and Sales to name just a few
    • Test components and overall system function to ensure proper integration
    • Create and assist with documentation consumed internally and by SAS customers
    • Effectively manage time to deadlines, openly communicate progress, and contribute to team success
    • Extended hours of support that may include off hours and weekends
    • Perform other duties as assigned

     Essential

    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or related quantitative field with:
      • 5 years of experience architecting, developing and supporting cloud enabled platforms
      • Self-driven and self-starter
      • Strong programming skills
      • Strong understanding of virtualization and containerization technologies.
      • Hands on experience administering SAS software.
      • Hands on experience administering Linux
      • Superior problem-solving skills in individual and team situations

     Equivalent Essential

    • 10 years in an IT Organization supporting SAS Systems and Solutions

    Additional

    • Effective communication, both oral and written.
    • Ability to keep current on state-of-the-art techniques, standards, and procedures for software development and emerging SAS Solutions.
    • Ability to think analytically and to effectively communicate problems and fixes
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Ability to demonstrate flexibility in adapting to changing priorities.

     

    Preferences

    • Self-driven and self-starter
    • Hands on experience administering SAS software
    • Understanding of virtualization and containerization technologies
    • Familiarity with Open Source Bigdata analytics projects
    • Strong scripting skills (Bash, Perl, Python or JavaScript)
