    The State and Local Government Sales organization has an immediate opening for an Account Executive passionate about helping government organizations find solutions. SAS helps our government customers deliver results on a variety of fronts – keeping costs under control, increasing productivity, improving public health and safety, maintaining a vibrant economic environment and delivering services that provide a high quality of life for citizens.

     

    The Account Executive will focus on selling to Michigan and Wisconsin State and Local Government Agencies. Your responsibilities will consist of executing strategies to create new business revenue from a platform of SAS initiatives.     The responsibilities will also include:

    • Selling a portfolio of SAS products including Data Integration, Data Cleansing, Data Warehousing, Reporting and Advanced Analytics
    • Developing and selling business solutions that meet customers' needs
    • Executing proven sales/marketing tactics and programs in order to meet or exceed assigned territory objectives
    • Identifying, qualifying and disqualifying prospective agencies to build the appropriate funnel portfolio in order to meet or exceed assigned territory objectives
    • Developing and executing a territory marketing plan including a territory management plan
    • Managing customer and prospect accounts to achieve expedient purchase decisions and to assist customers with problem resolutions
    • Identifying and calling on all levels of an organization from a ground-level technician to senior agency heads/elected officials/ "C" level executives
    • Perform other duties as assigned

    Essential Requirements:

    • Bachelor's degree in a business or quantitative field of study with:
    • 5 years of experience working in State and Local Government of Michigan *OR* selling software solutions to the State and Local Government of Michigan and/or Wisconsin
    • Ability to travel as business needs require
    • Work location: Michigan and Wisconsin. Applicants may be based in either state.

    Equivalent Essential:

    • Associate's degree in the same fields with an additional 2 years of the stated essential qualifications or a high school diploma (GED) with an additional 4 years of the stated essential qualifications

    Additional Requirements:

    • Current contacts within the Michigan Government space where you have become a trusted advisor to the client regardless of the logo on your business card
    • Knowledge of industry software and hardware terminology and concepts
    • Knowledge of SAS solutions, products and services
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strategic selling skills, skills in analyzing and evaluating territory dynamics to develop and implement a sales plan
    • Ability to initiate and lead projects
    • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
    • Ability to relate technical and business concepts to SAS solutions and user needs

    Preferences:

    • Experience in consulting sales of business solutions relevant to State & Local Government 
    • Demonstrated understanding of public sector procurement procedures and sales cycles
    • Demonstrated success developing new territories
    • Experience selling enterprise and/or programmatic software solutions
    • History of achieving sales targets (quotas)
    • Experience with complex sales cycles
