  • Overview

    As a Solution Specialist at SAS, with a specialization in Data Management, you are responsible for information architecture, data integration, software design and development. You will relate technical concepts to SAS System applications and user needs and oversee the technical progress of ongoing services projects; focus on the underlying Data Architecture and SAS technology core and may specialize in specific technical issues such as security, data management, system integration, database architecture and design, and ETL.   




    • Working closely with customers, you will utilize your experience in a variety of company products to participate in design and implementation software that helps people make better decisions.
    • Build a trusted relationship with client teams to provide practical guidance in the functional and technical aspects of proposed software and set proper expectations to ensure customer satisfaction.
    • Extract data from a variety of data sources, transform data, and load it into data warehouses and marts.
    • Profile data for data quality; and develop and implement cleansing rules.
    • Work with other team members to develop reports and utilize state of the art analytic techniques.




    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field. 
    • Enterprise-level skills: ETL Development, Data Modeling, SAS Programming, and SQL querying.
    • Understand, utilize and communicate Data Management best practice methodologies and industry standards internally and externally.




    • Knowledge of one or more database technologies and appliances (Oracle, DB2, TeraData, Greenplum, Hadoop).
    • Experience with designing ETL Architectures and solutions.
    • Experience with at least one ETL/Data Management tool (SAS Data Integration, Informatica, Pentaho, etc.)
    • Advanced report design and build experience (SAS, Tableau, other).
    • Data Modeling experience (Allfusion).
    • Mapping or geospatial software development experience. 
    • Transportation domain experience (I.e. roadways).

    • Effectively communicate designs and decisions to peers, customers, and management.
    • Create presentations and illustrations to drive design, training, and feedback.
    • Train and mentor others in a group and one-on-one settings.
    • Must have clear understanding of data warehousing concepts and best practices.
    • Develop logical and physical data models (Dimensional)
    • Develop mappings of source system data to target data model with business and transformation rules
    • Demonstrated leadership/influencer in architecture topics (publishes articles, leads demand generation activities, and speaks at technical events).




    This position will be seated at the client and out of our SAS office in Tallahassee, FL.
