    Predictive Analytics and Machine Learning Intern

    The Predictive Analytics and Machine Learning R&D team at SAS consists of statisticians, data scientists, and software developers who create and support industry-leading and award-winning software for data mining, machine learning, and large-scale automatic forecasting.  The team is involved in researching new methods, providing solutions to complex problems, and then integrating them into various SAS products from pure programming to entirely visual environments.

    This internship offers the opportunity to assist in research and implementing machine learning methods.  Responsibilities include contributing to activities such as literature review, writing examples in various languages for GitHub, and software development.

    What are we looking for?

    • Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university seeking a Ph.D in statistics, applied mathematics, data science, computer science, or a related field in a US Based school.
    • Coursework in machine learning, statistics, and/or predictive modeling
    • Demonstrated computing experience in SAS, Python, and R.
    • Students must not be graduating prior to the beginning of the internship and be enrolled to return to school after the internship ends.

    What type of skills do we prefer?

    • Experience with software and open source tools for machine learning
    • Excellent communication skills
    • Familiarity with feature engineering, supervised learning, and model interpretability methods
