Summary of Duties: Forge trusted advisor relationship with customers by understanding business and technical needs to identify areas in which SAS can provide value and return on investments through demonstrations and other customer-facing interactions. Establish reputation as a recognized expert internally by maintaining and proving deep knowledge of technical concepts, external market trends, and the competitive landscape. Provide functional solution leadership for sales opportunities, with the overarching purpose of meeting SAS revenue goals. Provide significant support in ensuring customer adoption, and ultimately satisfaction, at every step in the customer life-cycle. Leverage knowledge of a domain, industry, and domain- and industry-specific solutions to increase confidence in SAS. Participate in discovery meeting to collect, analyze, clarify, and document business requirements during the sales cycle to ensure alignment with SAS solution capabilities. Deliver standard, customized and/or strategic, senior level solution demonstrations and presentations outlining the functional capabilities, competitive advantages and business benefits of the SAS solutions as they apply to client needs.


Participate in product and solution training to acquire and maintain a detailed level of product knowledge of core components of SAS offerings and assigned solution areas, how each solution addresses business challenges, competitive information to identify how our solution stands apart, and what challenges/limitations may be encountered. Participate in or leads support and/or delivery of customized Proofs of Concept and pilot projects. Provide demonstration and business development support at analyst presentations, vendor-sponsored events, trade shows, and user group meetings. Coordinate with other SAS resources (such as Customer Knowledge Center, Tech Support, Product Management, Product Marketing, GTP, PSD, Customer Success) to provide the best team for a given opportunity.


Develop best practices documentation and provide business and technical leadership by contributing and sharing information with peers. Contribute and/or reviews proposals, documentation, publications, and course materials. Be a de-facto subject matter expert, providing guidance and coaching to customer resources to accomplish software roll out. Develop and contribute industry best practices based on the software roll-out and field experiences and use them to help improve the product. Provide vision to optimize the use of various SAS tools being used by the customer to create an integrated system that meets customer’s business requirements. (Travel 50% to 75% as business needs dictate.)


Qualifications: The position requires a Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or closely related field plus three (3) years of experience. Alternatively will accept a Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or closely related field plus five (5) years of experience in technical consulting, systems engineering, project management, applications development and/or customer support.


Requires three (3) years of experience in technical consulting, systems engineering, project management, applications development, and/or customer support. Requires knowledge or experience with SAS Platform Administration in large/complex SAS environments such as grid, Hadoop, visual analytics, and risk solutions. Requires knowledge or experience with UNIX, Systems Architecture, Database, Network Security and SAS programming; Network Systems and Administration and Information Systems Security; and web technologies such as Java, XML, or Groovy. Requires knowledge or experience with industry standards, methodologies and SAS foundation technologies, architecture and resources; the software or applications development life cycle; experience with administering AD/LDAP, SASAUTH, SSL, SSO, and IWA for SAS environments will be a definite plus; as well as  Hadoop eco-system for architecting big-data compute and storage needs.


The position also requires knowledge or experience with automating and orchestrating OS processes and custom programs in a multi-tier architecture using native OS scripting methods; Financial Services firms; SAS V9 Architecture; Oracle, DB2, SQL Server, PostgreSQL or Teradata; and Web Application Servers such as SAS Web Server, Apache TomEE, JBOSS, Oracle WebLogic or IBM WebSphere.
