JMP is an independent R&D division of SAS with a 25 year history of providing interactive, graphical, statistical discovery software to the engineering and scientific communities.  The JMP Family of Products includes JMP Clinical and JMP Genomics, two solutions integrating JMP and SAS that are dedicated to vertical applications in life sciences research.   


What you’ll do:


As a Software Developer within JMP, you will help implement an interactive data visualization framework for JMP, the premier product for statistical discovery from SAS.  Use your experience in software engineering, UI and graphics programming to help create an innovative, exploratory platform for data analysis. You’ll work with a small group of experienced developers in a casual atmosphere, while enjoying the benefits of working within one of America’s most admired companies.


We are using modern technologies to create a web-based collaboration product with JMP's signature interactivity, reaching new customers on desktop and mobile platforms visualizations hosted within the new JMP Live product.  Our product runs on all modern browsers, including mobile devices, and is approximately 80% JavaScript and 20% C++.


Examples of our visualizations are here: You will be involved in all phases of design, development, and maintenance of the report generation engine, and you will also have the opportunity to evangelize this product to customers. 



What we’re looking for:

  • Bachelor’s degree or greater in Computer Science or related quantitative field
  • General knowledge of software engineering tools, methodologies, and principles
  • 2+ years’ experience in C++ or other object-oriented languages
  • 2+ years’ experience with JavaScript (ES2016 or later), HTML5 canvas, and CSS3
  • Work location in Cary, NC


 The nice to haves:

  • Experience with modern C++, for instance C++ 14
  • Experience with multiple operating systems, particularly Windows and MacOS
  • Familiarity with mobile browsers, particularly Chrome, Safari and Edge
  • Some knowledge of statistics is a plus
  • Contributor to open source projects
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and tools, like Jira
  • Strong interpersonal, documentation and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to think analytically and effectively communicate issues and solution
