Are you a problem solver, explorer, and knowledge seeker – always asking, “What if?”

If so, you may be the new team member we’re looking for. Because at SAS, your curiosity matters – whether you’re developing algorithms, creating customer experiences, or answering critical questions. Curiosity is our code, and the opportunities here are endless.

What we do

At SAS, our mission is to make it easier for more people to use powerful analytics every day, to shorten the path from data to insight – and to inspire bold new discoveries that drive progress. The result is analytics that breaks down barriers, fuels ambitions and gets results. In a world where everyone has data, we believe it’s what you do with that data that matters. Are you someone who keeps asking yourself: Where can we improve with analytics? What markets can we disrupt? Where can we automate and support performance breakthroughs? Do you believe in the power of statistics and machine learning, and benefits it can bring to the society? If so, this is THE role for you.

SAS, an undisputed leader in enterprise Analytics, is looking for an innovative product manager to help drive strategy for its market leading statistical and machine learning software. This role requires collaborating across all product-related activities from vision to go-to-market to customer impact, including engaging with customers to understand their needs, developing product strategy, defining roadmap, working with development to build add features as part of continuous delivery pipeline and coordinating with various internal stakeholders to ensure whole-company readiness.

What you’ll do

You will work with a team of passionate statistical and machine learning developers who are making it easy to create and operationalize analytic models. You will be a self-starter who will not only bring to market the above technologies but will also collaborate with other teams to embed statistics and machine learning across the SAS Platform and products that sit on top of SAS platform.

  • Own the product vision; manage a roadmap that balances long term business drivers (e.g. strategic direction, competitive differentiation, revenue, user-count, etc.) with short-term market needs.
  • Passionate evangelist of products and advocate for the end user; cultivate close relationships with customers and bring their needs into product planning
  • Inspire and work closely with engineering to prioritize new product features based on market requirements, available resources, and product release cycle timelines.
  • Provide technical content for marketing materials and develop strong product positioning and competitive differentiation messages
  • Provide technical expertise to presales, professional services, technical support, and enablement teams worldwide, with the goal to enable SAS customers to develop solutions that address specific business problems
  • Support the SAS presence at trade shows, conferences, and other industry events
  • Provide support for strategic sales opportunities as needed

What we’re looking for

This role requires a strategic thinker. You must have a 2-3 years view of where you want the technology to land but balance it with what the team needs to deliver in near term. You should be curious and adaptable – this is an evolving space, things will change.  Finally, we expect you to be authentic and accountable - work hard, be committed to excellence and deliver results.

  • Master’s degree or higher, preferably in data science, computer science, statistics, or a related quantitative discipline.
  • Experience in direct product management / development – owning a directly relevant product or one related to statistics and/or machine learning
  • Entrepreneurial mindset and experience in working with resource constrained teams to deliver outstanding results
  • Solid understanding of modern data science methods that combine the strength of statistics, machine learning, and computer science, including model interpretability, inference, and advanced modeling techniques.
  • Familiarity with one or more open source packages and libraries (R statistical libraries, scikit-learn, PyTorch), microservice architecture and CI/CD methodologies.
  • Ability to travel up to 20% of the time (as the job requires)
  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field with an additional 5 years of stated essential qualifications.

  • Ability to translate complex technical and business information for diverse audiences. Excellent speaking-listening-writing skills, attention to details, proactive self-starter.
  • Strong interpersonal, teamwork, and negotiation skills
  • Previous experience managing Software-as-a-Service technology products and managed services

  • We love living the #SASlife and believe that happy, healthy people have a passion for life, and bring that energy to work. No matter what your specialty or where you are in the world, your unique contributions will make a difference.
  • Our multi-dimensional culture blends our different backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives. Here, it isn’t about fitting into our culture, it’s about adding to it - and we can’t wait to see what you’ll bring.
