What you’ll do

As a Customer Technical Engineer you will have the opportunity to work with cross-functional teams and technical leaders in areas including software development,  technical support,  and customer success  to deploy, manage, and automate  the SAS product solutions and operating infrastructure. We embrace a devops culture and use an agile development model to continuously deliver while also relentlessly seeking improvements in product capability, process, and quality. Your role will include deployments, automation, and monitoring to ensure healthy functioning and self-healing environments.   The team helps define best practices and a managed application services framework to scale across the institute.

You will:

  • Develop, support, and manage services using Infrastructure-as-a-code automation in Azure and AWS cloud using cloud agnostic tools (eg. Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation)
  • Maintain existing cloud environments and services
  • Perform Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) role to support existing cloud infrastructure and applications
  • Handle release, fixes, change management, and configuration management for deployed pre-production and production application environments
  • Integrate 3rd party tools and capabilities with cloud infrastructure (APM, monitoring, logging, external processors etc.)
  • Participate in cloud projects, development automation, security, and implement best practices related to new and existing deployments
  • Participate in on-call rotational assignments

What we’re looking for

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, related field, or equivalent experience
  • 4+ years of experience in cloud, web hosting, highly available, resilient applications and/or related activities
  • 4+ years of experience in at least one high level scripting or software development language such as Python, Groovy, Bash, Ruby, Perl, Java, Go, Camel
  • Understanding of web-based systems and the concepts behind cloud solutions
  • Experience with Linux server applications and infrastructure
  • Experience with Azure, AWS, GCP, or similar cloud products and infrastructure
  • Experience using a source code control system (ex. GIT, Mercurial, SVN)
  • Experience of DevOps processes for continuous integration (CI) and continuous deployment pipelines (CD), build automation, configuration management (Jenkins, Ansible, Terraform, Puppet, etc.) is a plus
  • Understand container technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes
  • Adept at working in a collaborative, team-oriented environment
  • Be a proactive, self-directed, detail-oriented, independent worker with strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills
  • Passion for continuous learning and mastering computer-related technologies

The nice to haves

  • Experience working in a DevOps model and Agile development methodology
  • Experience working in a globally dispersed team and with globally deployed products. 
  • Knowledge or experience related to Identity and Access Management (IAM), cloud security and/or certifications such as ISO27001, GDPR
  • Experience with RESTful API based orchestration platforms and real time scoring engines.
  • Experience with PostgreSQL and Oracle databases
  • Familiarity of SDLC processes and tools and ITSM processes and systems, tools such as ServiceNow and JIRA
  • Familiarity or experience developing or using SAS products would be beneficial
  • Understanding of Identity Risk Platform
