What you’ll do

As a Solutions Advisor - Insurance Risk, you will lead/provide advisory on implementation of risk solutions and work closely with team members to assess clients’ business needs and translate those requirements into deployment, customization, and implementation of SAS’ Insurance Risk & Regulatory solutions. Additionally, you will advise clients on data provisioning, analytics, and reporting frameworks relevant to insurance. While interacting with clients to help solve their business problems, you will gain a breadth of first-hand experiences in risk analytics, data management, and regulatory capital assessment. Your primary focus and day-to-day activity will consist of providing domain and solution expertise to insurance related Risk & Regulatory Delivery projects.

In addition to business and technical advisory on implementation, this role will assist the Risk and Finance Advisory team with its responsibilities in presales and proof of concept efforts, implementation training and enablement of SAS consultants and partners globally, service estimates, product content creation for SAS’ Insurance Risk & Regulatory solutions.


You will:

  • Demonstrate leadership in delivering SAS’ Insurance Risk & Regulatory solutions and implementations to customers
  • Create relationships with SAS customers as a trusted advisor and partner
  • Provide advisory support to internal and external delivery partners to ensure successful implementations
  • Interact with clients to assess the functional and operational business needs
  • Conduct financial risk analysis, explore and design creative new approaches to solving real business problems
  • Lead functional assessments to understand solution requirements for risk and finance frameworks
  • Teach best practices to risk consulting teams globally
  • Provide actionable feedback to solution Research & Development based on customer experiences
  • Advise sales team on objectives for customer meetings, overall sales plan and provide solution leadership

What we're looking for

The successful candidate will have a background in life insurance/reinsurance or financial services, technical expertise in developing/implementing regulatory models/reporting frameworks, including an awareness of at least two of the following:

  • Solid actuarial knowledge and experience in valuation, financial reporting and pricing
  • Professional actuarial qualifications such as FSA, FIA, CIA or equivalent
  • Good understanding of international standards such as IFRS17, LDTI, Solvency II, ORSA
  • Experience developing actuarial models in SAS, Python, Matlab or using Actuarial software such as Prophet, GGY Axis, Milliman Arius
  • Experience with ALM or Economic Capital Models in Insurance
  • Professional accounting qualifications such as CPA

The successful candidate should also have:

  • A passionately curious, dedicated life-long learner with an analytical mind, strong communication skills to convey the technical to a non-technical audience, and an accountable problem-solving disposition
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience within a financial institution or consulting firm
  • Experienced in computer programing language and risk modeling, with interest in expanding technology skills and knowledge
  • BS in Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Economics, Computer Science, Statistics, Physics, Engineering, Accounting or other quantitative field preferred
  • Ability to coach and mentor colleagues on risk and finance technical topics
  • Ability to travel at least 50% globally (most travel is domestic with occasional global requirements)

 The nice to haves

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain complex math and statistical concepts to an executive audience
  • MS in Actuarial Science, Financial Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, Physics, Accounting or other quantitative field
  • Additional risk domain knowledge considered valuable – market risk, credit risk, enterprise risk, and/or operational risk. Finance experience a plus.
  • Ability to develop creative solutions to complex problems, and to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously
  • Experience driving risk implementation teams in the financial services industry with specific focus on risk management applications and consulting services
  • Experience working with SAS Risk Solutions and SAS Programming
