What you’ll do

We are seeking a Systems Engineer to provide technical expertise for both software pre-sale and post-sale activities.  Your primary focus will be on solution and software adoption, problem resolution, cloud evolution, and overall customer satisfaction supporting some of the largest financial services companies in the world.  Understanding the technical concepts of SAS System applications and user needs you will own and advise on the technical progress of pre-and post-sales projects. Building customer confidence and trust through excellent advisory, communications, consulting, and presentation skills will be critical. 


You will be a highly valued member of a dynamic pre-sales team of architects, data scientists, and domain specialists who support this strategic customer base.  Our team prides itself on cultivating career growth and we will work together to ensure you have opportunities for learning and applying new skills and competencies.  Although knowledge of the financial services industry would be helpful it is not required for the right individual possessing strong knowledge of cloud and technology from SAS and/or open source platforms.


Location: Nationwide with a preference for the Eastern US


Major Responsibilities Include:

  • Partner with sales, hosting, consulting, technical support, and customer loyalty teams on development and execution of user enablement, software adoption, and general customer retention activities
  • Acting in a consultative role including interviewing customers to capture technical information, problem definitions, and software retention challenges
  • White-boarding and/or framing technology architecture for SAS software
    solutions and SAS Viya migration efforts that demonstrates creative skills and technology competencies
  • Developing account strategy and account plan with Account Executives and senior pre-sales team members
  • Assisting in the response to RFI/RFP's utilizing the RFP Repository and crafting thorough and compelling answers
  • Delivering SAS software demonstrations, presentations, and customer enablement sessions
  • Detect and understand the customer's business needs; articulate the value of our solutions and offerings; and identify appropriate applications, tools, and solutions
  • Advise customers on integrating SAS and open source technologies
  • Assist in proof of concept activities

What we’re looking for

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science, or related quantitative field
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt quickly to customer challenges and effectively prioritize competing tasks
  • Five years of experience in technical sales, consulting, customer success, pre-sales, marketing, or information systems
  • Experience programming in a high-level language or development with SAS and SAS applications
  • Ability to travel as business needs dictate

Other knowledge, skills, and abilities

  • Familiarity with Cloud architecture components and SAS Viya product suites
  • Demonstrated knowledge of SAS 9 system tools and architecture concepts including GRID
  • Experience presenting technical software/hardware demonstrations
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Demonstrated project leadership skills
  • Ability to relate technical concepts to SAS System applications and user needs
  • Ability to work and learn independently and as part of a virtual team


  • Financial services industry experience a plus
  • Python, R, or other open source programming experience
