Are you a problem solver, explorer, and knowledge seeker – always asking, “What if?”

If so, then you may be the new team member we’re looking for. Because at SAS, your curiosity matters – whether you’re developing algorithms, creating customer experiences or answering critical questions. Curiosity is our code, and the opportunities here are endless.

What we do

We’re the leader in analytics. Through our software and services, we inspire customers around the world to transform data into intelligence. Our curiosity fuels innovation, pushing boundaries, challenging the status quo and changing the way we live.

What you’ll do

We’re looking for a Go Software Engineer.  This position requires an experienced,  disciplined software engineer, with extensive Kubernetes and Kubernetes Operator Framework knowledge. The position requires experience building cloud native applications, application scalability and fault tolerance in Kubernetes.  Additionally, network and ingress knowledge are extremely important, including Nginx, OpenShift Routes, Contour Envoy, secure proxies, and TLS.  Application development is primarily done in Go, but C++ knowledge is also required for integration aspects with the SAS Event Stream Processing runtime server.  Modern software development practices using Jira tickets, agile development methodologies and source control in GIT are the norm.

The SAS Event Stream Processing eco-system is a suite of applications consisting of a runtime-server (C++), Kubernetes framework support applications (Go), graphical user-based clients (built by a separate SAS team), and a Kubernetes operator (Go). Future development and maintenance of the Go components and the touchpoints in the SAS Event Stream Processing runtime server will be primary responsibilities. The Go eco-system currently consists of: ESP operator, Custom Load Balance and an Oauth2 Proxy / Pivotal UAA server.

You will:

  • Design and architecture of the Event Stream Processing direction for Kubernetes, including:
    • SAS specific (Viya) Event Stream Processing eco-system on Azure, AWS, Google and OpenShift. This involves considerable integration with other SAS microservices.
    • Lightweight generic Event Stream processing eco-system on Azure, AWS, Google and OpenShift.  This is a full feature, but minimal deployment leveraging the Oath2 Proxy and UAA authentication server from the opensource community.
  • All aspects of Kubernetes including a detailed understanding of Oauth2 authentications mechanisms. Familiarity with the Pivotal UAA server is important.
  • Networking and Ingress technologies.
  • Continued development and direction of the SAS Event Stream Processing Operator, Oauth2 Proxy, and Load Balancer (all written in Go).
  • Federated data store across multiple cloud vendors for storage of machine learning models and input/output data.
  • Security aspects of Event Stream Processing Server (C++) in Kubernetes and in bare OS implementations

What we’re looking for:

  • Technical expertise in the development of Kubernetes Operators in Go.
  • Understanding of Authentication and Proxy system for Kubernetes.
  • Basic familiarity with C++ and Object-Oriented Programming.
  • You’re curious, passionate, authentic, and accountable. These are our values and influence everything we do.

The nice to haves:

  • Generic understanding of Kubernetes with familiarity in the specific implementations in Azure, AWS, Google Cloud and OpenShift.
  • Experience with the Oauth2 Proxy and Pivotal UAA server.

  • We love living the #SASlife and believe that happy, healthy people have a passion for life, and bring that energy to work. No matter what your specialty or where you are in the world, your unique contributions will make a difference.
  • Our multi-dimensional culture blends our different backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives. Here, it isn’t about fitting into our culture, it’s about adding to it - and we can’t wait to see what you’ll bring.
