What you’ll do

This position would work with these executive branch departments and independent regulatory agency to identify and pursue opportunities where SAS’ portfolio of analytics and big data solutions can drive better outcomes for the government and the citizens and stakeholders it serves. SAS can assist in leveraging data to improve outcomes, operational efficiency, and mission critical capabilities with unparalleled insights.  We are considering candidates with agriculture industry, Executive Branch or regulatory agency, policy or business development experience in the federal space.  This position will be responsible for driving new business, developing strategic account planning, executing on this plan, and working with the broader team to grow SAS software and consulting revenue with the Departments and agencies listed above.  

 

 

We’re looking for an Account Executive who is passionate about building authentic relationships with customers, wants to help solve their business problems and is ready to drive sales of SAS software products, solutions, and services. The Account Executive will provide strategic guidance and lead SAS business development efforts in agriculture, labor, education, and consumer safety spaces. The primary areas of focus include but are not limited to strategies that address the needs of the Department of Agriculture, Department of Labor, Department of Education, and Consumer Product Safety Commission.    This position would work with these executive branch departments and independent regulatory agency to identify and pursue opportunities where SAS’ portfolio of analytics and big data solutions can drive better outcomes for the government and the citizens and stakeholders it serves. SAS can assist in leveraging data to improve outcomes, operational efficiency, and mission critical capabilities with unparalleled insights.  We are considering candidates with agriculture industry, Executive Branch or regulatory agency, policy or business development experience in the federal space.


You will join a team of talented sales experts responsible for delivering business value and helping Federal Government agencies achieve their goals through the creative use of SAS products, technologies and services. SAS has a long-standing relationship with many large companies, and our breadth of solutions mean that we are perfectly placed to support them in this next chapter of their evolution.
 

You will:

  • Develop and execute a Strategic Plan for growing SAS’ substantial multi-million-dollar footprint based on a comprehensive opportunity analysis which should consider market, policy, and political dynamics, relationships, agency budgets and priorities, compelling business needs, and SAS federal contractual arrangements.  
  • Craft and implement, as part of the Strategic Plan, specific Administration strategies to further SAS business initiatives and strategic expansion opportunities. This sales strategy will address what focus areas to prioritize as well as the best approach for each.  
  • Understand relevant Federal policy initiatives, rulemaking, budget and other legislation representing opportunities or risks for SAS’ strategic success. 
  • Work to identify, prospect, qualify and drive sales opportunities into new use cases, while simultaneously growing large enterprise contracts. 
  • Sell software, solutions and services to current and prospective customers; work with other sales/pre-sales/domain/personnel to position and leverage sales opportunities to acquire, grow and retain customers within your sector.
  • Fulfil wide range of requests for information from prospective customers. Qualify level of opportunity and resources required.
  • Work closely with pre-sales resources and executives to facilitate timely response to highly qualified, high revenue potential opportunities.
  • Prepare standard quotations and proposal information as needed; work with other departments to create and finalize contracts and set time schedules for delivery services.
  • Follow up with customers to track satisfaction levels and to discover additional revenue opportunities.
  • Develop a basic understanding of company pricing, licensing procedures and approvals matrix.
  • Fully utilize account planning process and tools (Account Plans and Opportunity Plans).

 

What we’re looking for

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Business, Marketing, MIS, or other relevant discipline.
  • At least 5 years of experience in driving sales.
  • Location:  Arlington, VA 
  • You’re curious, passionate, authentic and accountable. These are our values and influence everything we do.
  • Expert skills and high-level experience with one of the Agencies listed, USDA specific experience is considered a plus. 
  • Experience with federal procurement processes and federal government sales cycles

  

Other knowledge, skills, and abilities

  • Effective and polished communicator capable of engaging audiences of varying levels, including C-level customers. 
  • Ability to analyze and evaluate account dynamics, develop a sales plan, execute against this plan, and accurately forecast sales. 
  • Strategic selling skills
  • Ability to initiate and lead projects and work effectively in a team environment.
  • Knowledge of analytics solutions and/or Cloud and services preferred, but it is not essential. 
  • Ability to travel as business dictates (following Covid-19 protocols and guidance).
