What you’ll do

We’re looking for a User Experience Designer to join the Health and Life Sciences R&D team to design, prototype and document user interfaces (UIs) for SAS solutions from the Life Sciences domain.  You will work our team of  UX Designers to develop user profiles, with emphasis on human error control, display issues, visual interaction, and task and objective analyses. 


You will:

  • Perform research focused on understanding work practice and user behavior as individuals and as part of a work group.
  • Interact with customers, user groups, and marketing to identify functional requirements.
  • Work with Product Management and development to put functional requirements into context via use cases.
  • Work in cross functional teams to translate requirements into system design.
  • Design, develop, and document high level and detailed storyboards, mockups and/or prototypes to effectively communicate designs.
  • Run design reviews, usage walkthroughs, and usability tests with key stakeholders and representative users to validate and iterate designs as needed.
  • Prepare usability studies and design tests to determine operating characteristics of software as required.
  • Gain appropriate levels of proficiency with SAS software and design tools to support user experience design activities.
  • Produce specifications describing the appearance and behavior of the user interface for a product in development.


What we’re looking for

  • Bachelor's degree required in one of the following disciplines: Computer Science, Human-Computer Interaction, Cognitive Psychology, User Experience, Industrial Design, or related field.
  • Five (5) years of user experience design and analysis or related experience
  • Portfolio of user experience design and research. Provide a link to your portfolio work on your resume, upon submission of your application.
  • Familiarity with common design and prototyping tools.

Other knowledge, skills, and abilities

  • Proficient in experimental and quasi-experimental design for the purposes of usability evaluation and design comparisons
  • Proficient in quantitative and qualitative data analysis including questionnaire development
  • Proficient in interview techniques
  • Able to identify emerging interaction patterns within internal and external software
  • Creates screen mock-ups to effectively communicate designs
  • Develops low fidelity and high-fidelity UI prototypes
  • Makes design recommendations based on research findings and standard design practices
