What you’ll do

We are looking for a Trustworthy Artificial Intelligence (AI) Specialist to provide domain knowledge, subject matter expertise and operational support for trustworthy AI implementation and integration activities throughout SAS.  The SAS Data Ethics Practice (DEP) is a cornerstone of the company’s Responsible Innovation efforts, working internally and externally to guide SAS and its customers in the development and deployment of technologies that promote human well-being, agency and equity.

As part of the DEP, you will work closely with a range of internal and external stakeholders globally, from product strategy and development, to supporting go-to-market efforts. Ultimately, the goal is to serve people, particularly the most vulnerable, by influencing a range of stakeholders to design and deploy technology in ethical, responsible ways. Your ability to embrace nuance, juggle priorities, excel amidst ambiguity and drive concepts to tangible output are paramount to success in this role. 

You will:

• Support the design, development, distribution, and governance of trustworthy AI strategies.
• Serve as an ambassador and implementor of trustworthy AI strategies and objectives, specifically by helping to advance the operationalization of such strategies in relation to SAS’ platform capabilities, corporate oversight, corporate controls and culture.
• Establish internal and external influence in pursuit of establishing SAS as a leading contributor to the growth of responsible innovation in the fields of AI and analytics.
• Develop best practices to help SAS quickly respond to regulatory changes
• Provide domain expertise for the integration of various products and third-party software.
• Assist with internal training of domain specific content, as well as related processes and product capabilities.
• Promote investigation and application of new technologies, competitors’ products, current regulation/legislation and industry trends.
• Communicate domain related issues and enhancements cross-functionally with marketing, consulting, development, testing, and technical support teams.
• Communicate with external users and customers regarding domain related industry and business topics.
• Write and present on domain related topics internally and externally.
• Build a domain specific, cross-functional sphere of influence.

What we’re looking for

• Bachelor's degree in area related to domain expertise or computer science.
• 5 years of experience in the specific industry or market segment related to the position. 
• Working knowledge of Trustworthy AI, and preferably its application(s) in a specific industry or market segment.
• Demonstrated ability to apply multiple areas of advanced business knowledge to successfully meet broad work objectives.
• Specific industry-related experience may be considered in combination with the above.
• Excellent written, oral and digital communication skills.
• Ability to communicate with people with various technical backgrounds.

• Experience developing and implementing leading practices, preferably in response to regulatory changes
• Experience delivering projects and working with teams with diverse skill sets, executing a long-term departmental strategy.
• Experience in change management, applying functional expertise to reduce risks and enhance operational performance.
• Experience presenting highly technical content to general audiences and senior level stakeholders.

Other knowledge, skills, and abilities

• Knowledge of data governance, data management principles, strategies and frameworks.
• Ability to identify AI and machine learning risks which may have unintended consequences.
• Strong analytical, interpretation and evaluation skills.
• Highly skilled rapport and relationship builder.
