You will:

As an Analytical Engineer in Technical Support, you will work with customers, internal consultants, developers, and product managers to help our customers achieve their business goals.


  • Respond to customer issues regarding SAS software in various areas of statistics
  • Proactively communicate carefully and effectively with customers and experts across SAS during the problem resolution process
  • Build your knowledge of new SAS software products, specialized advanced analytical and business domains, and new analytics and software technologies. 
  • Apply your expertise in analytical techniques to interpret documentation, to suggest appropriate software features, SAS procedures, products, and/or solutions, and to troubleshoot, diagnose and resolve complex analytical and business domain problems and business critical issues that involve multiple areas of the SAS system.
  • Provide references for formulas and analytical techniques that our algorithms use, where possible.
  • Participate in the analytics product lifecycle with other groups/divisions, including Research and Development, to improve the quality and design of future software releases and influence product direction based on knowledge of analytics, analytical experience, domain and software knowledge, and customer feedback. 
  • Review product documentation and education courses for technical accuracy, consistency, and user’s point of view.
  • Contribute to the SAS user experience by authoring software notes, technical papers and presentations, and engaging with our customers in the SAS Communities

What we’re looking for:

  • Master’s degree in Statistics (with coursework in Time Series, Econometrics, or Forecasting methods)
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with statistical software packages and programming

Additional Skills:

  • A self-starter with a can-do attitude
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Fluent in written and spoken English
  • Ability to handle deadlines in a multitasking environment
  • Ability to resolve user questions through a combination of independent study, investigative programming, and collaborative efforts with colleagues in and outside of own team
  • Knowledge of Technical Support methodologies

The Nice to Have Skills:

  • Teaching experience in Statistics, Econometrics, Time-Series, or Forecasting
  • SAS Certifications
  • Experience with SAS/ETS, SAS/STAT, SAS/OR, and SAS/IML software
