What you’ll do  


As a Front End UI Engineer and a member of the Interactive Analytics and Modeling Team in the R&D division at SAS, you will join a team of talented engineers working collaboratively to deliver innovative products that bring analytics to life.  You will implement new features as determined by product management. Your work will pertain to the features in the SAS Visual Analytics product that involve the statistical and machine learning models. This position is focused on the client interface, building on existing statistical algorithms.  You will contribute to projects spanning a diverse set of technologies, including JavaScript/TypeScript and React.  If you have a strong programming background and experience with statistical concepts, this could be the right opportunity for you!


You will:

  • Design and develop a high-quality client interface for statistical and machine learning algorithms using JavaScript/TypeScript and React.
  • Actively involve other project stakeholders (e.g., managers, developers, user interface designers) to ensure implementation satisfies function requirements and is consistent with established R&D standards.
  • Participate in project scoping and scheduling; track progress of individual tasks and alert stakeholders of issues preventing completion of task.
  • Ensure the quality of the code you write through the development of automated unit tests.
  • Conduct code reviews to ensure integrity and consistency.
  • Effectively communicate with other developers and testers.
  • Review documentation.


What we’re looking for

  • You have a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related quantitative field.
  • You have 5 or more years of experience with JavaScript/TypeScript and React (or other library/framework).


 The nice to haves  

  • Advanced degree in Computer Science or Data Science
  • Experience with predictive analytics
  • Experience using an IDE such as IntelliJ

  • Ability to learn new analytical concepts, programming languages, tools, and processes as needed.
  • Ability to think analytically and effectively communicate issues and solutions.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team.
  • Strong interpersonal, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
