Are you a problem solver, explorer, and knowledge seeker – always asking, “What if?”

If so, then you may be the new team member we’re looking for. Because at SAS, your curiosity matters – whether you’re developing algorithms, creating customer experiences, or answering critical questions. Curiosity is our code, and the opportunities here are endless.

Are you someone who keeps asking yourself: Where can we improve with analytics? What markets can we disrupt? How can we better analyze data at massive scale? Where can we automate and support performance breakthroughs? Are you energized by tough software challenges in the space of graphs and connected data? If so, this is THE role for you.

What we do

We’re the leader in analytics. At SAS, our mission is to make it easier for more people to use powerful analytics every day, to shorten the path from data to insight – and to inspire bold new discoveries that drive progress. The result is analytics that breaks down barriers, fuels ambition, and gets results. In a world where everyone has data, we believe it is what you do with that data that matters.

What you’ll do

You will develop, test, document, support, and iteratively improve the SAS software for network analysis and network optimization. Central duties include submitting code in a continuous integration, continuous improvement, and continuous delivery pipeline. This could include test automation, debugging and bug fixing, new features and algorithm development, and composition of formal product documentation. Collaborative support both within the team and across other teams at SAS is paramount. An additional focus will be providing product-centric support for technical use cases and issues that arise in real-world business applications such as financial services, shipping logistics, and bioinformatics.

What we are looking for

  • Ph.D. in computer science, operations research, applied mathematics, or a related quantitative field
  • Five years of experience in developing software that solves network data modeling, network analysis, or network optimization problems
  • Experience with popular network analysis toolkits and graph databases, such as igraph, networkX, Boost Graph Library, neo4j, or janusGraph
  • Three years of experience in programming in C or C++
  • Three years of experience in implementing network or optimization algorithms
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to identify and proactively solve problems
  • You are curious, passionate, authentic, and accountable; these core values influence everything we do

The nice-to-haves

  • Experience developing commercial-quality software
  • Experience in implementing multithreaded and/or distributed algorithms
  • Experience working on a large-scale software project
  • Experience with SAS programming
  • Experience with agile software development processes and tools
  • Curiosity and a desire to learn something new every day

  • We love living the #SASlife and believe that happy, healthy people have a passion for life, and bring that energy to work. No matter what your specialty or where you are in the world, your unique contributions will make a difference.
  • Our multi-dimensional culture blends our diverse backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives. Here, we seek not the candidates who merely fit into our culture, but those who add to it – and we are eager to see what your perspective brings to SAS.
