About the job  

 

The Risk Research and Quantitative Solutions (RQS) division at SAS is looking for a senior professional with background in financial services industry, who will be responsible for assisting with the development and integration of one of our core areas of focus: Asset-Liability Management (ALM)/Integrated Balance Sheet Management (IBSM). This is a unique opportunity for a bold, solution-oriented individual to help advance our risk management software business at SAS.   

Work Location: Position is open to work in the US or [list specific countries] based on where the candidate is eligible to work.

 

As a Solutions Architect, you will:  

  • Play a pivotal role in the ALM/IBSM solution’s design cycle and achievement of software development targets.
  • Evaluate and validate the value and vision of the ALM/IBSM solution from a (prospective) customers’ perspective.
  • Maintain a deep understanding of industry trends with respect to ALM/IBSM and become a trusted internal advisor within RQS.
  • Influence the future direction of the ALM solution, including prioritization of features and definition of user experience.
  • Partner with project and development teams to develop and deliver targeted solutions for new customers and provide existing RQS ALM/IBSM customers with ongoing support/subject matter expertise.
  • Provide RQS Pre-Sales with technical solution support (e.g., solution demos).
  • Interact with Research and Development in resolving client issues as well as assist in the testing of new functionality.
  • Maintain knowledge of assigned domain, processes, data, and systems, including industry best practices for the business function.
  • Serve as a consultant and liaison between business and technical community to foster collaboration, clear and transparent communication and ensure mutually beneficial solutions.
  • Lead and document functional requirements for developing and implementing enterprise business applications, products, and services, including SAS products, SAS custom-built solutions, 3rd party products as well as associated integrations and data.

  

Required Qualifications

  • Excellent knowledge of ALM/IBSM discipline and financial product modeling/analytics.
  • Experience with software development cycles and/or in modeling in SAS or other analytical tools like Python, R, etc.
  • True team player who can work collaboratively with other constituents across RQS and the broader SAS organization.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • S./B.A. required in economics, finance, accounting, or other quantitative areas. Post graduate degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience within a Treasury Department at a bank or similar financial intermediary.
  • Equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered in place of the above qualifications.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a Risk & Quantitative Solutions Business Unit strongly preferred.
  • Advanced degree (MSc , PhD or equivalent).
  • Relevant academic research publications a plus.
  • CFA or FRM is a plus.
  • Familiarity with software design patterns (e.g., UML)
