About the job

The primary responsibility of the FAR 135 Chief Pilot is oversight of flight operations crews, ensuring compliance with international and federal, state and local regulations, in accordance with the company values, goals, and financial targets.  The FAR 135 Chief Pilot ensures that all company flight operations are carried out, in a responsible manner, with the highest regard for safety, compliance, and service standards. The FAR 135 Chief Pilot reports to the Director of Operations and will assist in implementing best practices, efficient systems, and processes, while balancing the business needs and operational requirements. The Chief Pilot and all operational personnel report to and are accountable to the Director of Operations in all matters pertaining to CFR Part 135 operations.

 

As a FAR 135 Chief Pilot, you will:

  • Ensures that every flight operated is conducted safely, in compliance with all FAA and government regulations, in conformance with operations specifications, and the Company GOM and SOP’s.
  • Exhibits the highest level of commitment to our crews, patients, and passengers.
  • Reports to the Director of Operations (DO).
  • Exercises operational control over the scheduling of flights, crews, and operations.
  • Serves as a check airman on assigned aircraft.
  • Assists with the development, communication, and implementation of efficient operational procedures, policies, and effective growth strategies.
  • Ensures that the department flight operations are properly staffed, organized, trained, and directed to fulfil its responsibilities. 
  • Maintains the schedule for flight crews and managing time off requests around flight scheduling. 

Required Qualifications

  • Requires a minimum of five years of experience in the field.  Requires 5000 hours of total documented flight time, plus 3000 hours flying a jet, 2000 hours as Pilot-In-Command, and 300 hours instrument experience.
  • Degree in aviation, business administration, or technical training preferred.  Current Airline Transport Pilot license with multi-engine and instrument ratings.  FAA First Class Medical Certificate. Captain qualification on at least one aircraft type operated by company.  Valid United States Passport and/or other travel documents for free entrance and exit in other countries.
  • Equivalent combination of related education, training and experience may be considered in place of the above qualifications.
  • Prepares and maintains all pilot training, flight and duty, and proficiency records.
  • Coordinates with the Director of Operations on crew status for flight operations and training events.
