About the job

The IoT team is looking for a Systems Architect to define, design, and implement architectural approaches for IoT applications through consideration of business/market requirements, system quality attributes, and overall technical direction. Our team works on innovative technical and architectural approaches to drive the IoT product portfolio forward.

 

 

As a Systems Architect you will:

  • Monitor and analyze technology industry trends on Generative AI, ML training frameworks, and other AI technologies, to evaluate design trade-offs to develop updated architectures, consistent with IoT Product strategy
  • Plans evolutionary paths for functionality and architecture to enhance SAS IoT portfolio, incorporating dependent third-party architectural changes and new technology adoption, and develop proofs-of-concept to ensure feasibility and prevent implementation challenges.
  • Collaborates with product managers, UX designers, other R&D architects/developers, quality assurance, and engineers on determining functional and non-functional requirements to ensure that newly developed features and adopted technologies adhere to a common architecture as necessary for them to work well together and form a cohesive product line.
  • Maintains and organizes documentation about technical designs, with supporting justification for architectural and design choices, to be used as a reference for white papers and marketing assets.
  • Conduct technical assessment of competitive and open-source offerings
  • Support technical and architectural discussions with customers and partners
  • Present technology enhancement and architectural innovation at SAS or 3rd Party events.
  • Ensures all applicable security policies and processes are followed to support the organization’s secure software development goals.

Required qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in R&D, technical pre-sales, consulting, or related technical function in the technology industry, preferably with a software vendor
  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field, preferably in Computer Science or related field
  • Proficiency with Python development and major AI related libraries, ML training frameworks such as PyTorch (preferred) or TensorFlow
  • Experience with Generative Analytic toolset (LLMs such as Mistral or Llama 2, Langchain, OpenAI and Azure OpenaI API services)
  • Ability to comprehend the details of complex system software and the implications of architectural changes and to summarize them in clear requirements.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication in English.
  • An equivalent combination of related education, training and experience may be considered in place of the above qualifications.

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience with Cloud architecture considerations
  • Knowledge of containers and container orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes
  • Knowledge of full-stack software development
  • Ability to lead projects and adapt to changing priorities and deadlines with excellent communication and coordination skill
