This position is 100% onsite and the hours are, Monday - Thursday - 11:00am - 7:00pm and Friday, 9:00am - 5:00pm.

About the job

 

The Recreation and Fitness Center is looking for a Fitness and Wellness Specialist to help research, develop, organize and implement a variety of programs within the areas of Aquatics, Employee Services, Fitness, Leisure, Recreation, Sports, and Wellness.

 

As a Fitness and Wellness Specialist, you will:

 

  • Teach a variety of aerobics/exercise classes including yoga.
  • Develop individual personal training programs for employees, their families, and domestic partners; conducts orientations by instructing participants.
  • Generate ideas for new fitness and wellness programs.
  • Assist with maintenance and improvements to current Recreation and Fitness Center (RFC) employee programs.
  • Lead wellness classes and programs.
  • Advise participants on program and class procedures and policies.
  • Monitor activities in the RFC, including locker room traffic. Ensures that the facilities and equipment are used properly.
  • Perform general office duties: answering phone calls, handling employee questions and requests, assisting in facility preparation for specific activities, making copies, and selling merchandise.
  • Assist with the general maintenance of facilities. Maintains facility equipment as required.
  • May also organize and direct special events, leisure activities, athletic programs, discount services and wellness events including team building.

 

Required Qualifications

 

  • Two years of programming experience with fitness/wellness programs.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, Physical Education, Recreation or related field. Program certifications related to area of assignment (Fitness, Aquatics, Sports)
  • Experience teaching group exercise classes including yoga.
  • Equivalent combination of related education, training and experience may be considered in place of the above qualifications.
