About the job

 

The Sr. Systems Engineer is a vital member of the US Healthcare Pre-Sales Customer Advisory team at SAS. This team member focuses on solving business problems and opportunities for SAS customers in the US healthcare and US federal health spaces, leveraging the latest SAS solutions. The successful candidate will possess a value-based, collaborative, and customer-centric approach to problem solving and provide thought leadership, innovation, and a high level of satisfaction to SAS’s customers. Seek to identify a customer’s business problem and how analytics and SAS technology can solve them. The ability to communicate value propositions, differentiators, and complex technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences is also a must.

 

In this role, the Sr. Systems Engineer collaborates with the SAS sales team on customer engagements, discovery of business challenges, and designing solutions to those challenges. Partnering with SAS Industry Consultants, the successful applicant will build customer trust and increase credibility through developing novel solutions and demonstrations of the capabilities of SAS solutions. The successful applicant will be expected to advance their knowledge of life science business problems and use cases, while also advancing their knowledge of data science platforms, methods, and technologies.

 

As a Senior Systems Engineer, you will:

  • Lead discovery, demonstration, and advisory engagements with life science customers
  • Build healthcare and federal healthcare customer trust and increase the credibility of SAS in sales situations
  • Design and develop solution designs, demonstrations, and assets for SAS software
  • Participate in product demonstrations, whiteboarding, and content presentations for our customers
  • Respond to RFI/RFPs with solution designs, technical writing, demonstrations, and oral presentations
  • Participate in SAS product and solution training to maintain detailed product knowledge
  • Monitor competing solutions to understand SAS products’ strengths and weaknesses in the market
  • Identify and communicate best-practice methodologies both internally and externally

 Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years of relevant experience in Healthcare, Life Sciences, or related fields
  • Bachelor’s degree in Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Data Science, Statistics, or related field
  • Expertise in BI visualization and dashboarding design and development
  • Experience in Healthcare data management, databases, data structures, etc.
  • Hands-on experience with SAS Visual Analytics, Tableau, PowerBI, or similar BI tool
  • Hands-on experience with SAS, Python (e.g., NumPy, Pandas), R, or other analytic programming languages
  • Experience applying various statistical models and methods to business problems
  • Travel up to 25% or as business needs require

 Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Data Science, Statistics, or related field
  • Experience applying Machine Learning and AI algorithms to business problems
  • Hands-on experience with the SAS Viya platform
  • Experience selling to US federal government buyers or working on US federal government contracts
  • Experience presenting to a mixture of technical, analytical, and executive audiences in a clear
  • Experience in technical pre-sales or customer solution engineering
