About the job

At the Health and Life Sciences division we are at the forefront of Life Science technology, developing innovative solutions such as Life Science Analytics Framework, our flagship product that is currently cloud deployed for over 50 pharmaceutical companies across the globe working to get drug approval from their national regulatory administrations. We are looking for a talented and experienced Manager, Software Development to lead our dynamic development team and drive the success of the Life Science solutions, HLS division, and SAS corporate objectives.

 

As a Manager, Software Development, you will:

  • Organize, develop, prioritize, and assign resources to deliver high quality, testable and scalable software solutions within established timelines, while adhering to R&D best practices and processes.
  • Manage and lead project scoping and scheduling; tracks progress of individual tasks and alerts executive management and stakeholders of concerns meeting schedules, while following established R&D standards.
  • Maintain accountability for the entire life cycle of the code including support for both internal and external consumers.
  • Ensure the veracity of design and technical documentation to satisfy both internal and external consumers.
  • Contribute to product or project direction through collaboration with Product Management, Marketing, Sales, Customers, and others within SAS.
  • Provide technical leadership as appropriate for projects and to the team through mentoring, training, and managing the activities of the team.
  • Ensure all software development processes comply with relevant healthcare regulations, such as HIPAA, and follow industry best practices.
  • Ensure all applicable security policies and processes are followed to support the organization’s secure software development goals.

Required Qualifications

  • 8 + years of experience in software development.
  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field, preferably Computer Science or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 8 years of programming experience, minimum 2 or more years in a supervisory or management role.
  • An equivalent combination of related education, training and experience may be considered in place of the above qualifications.
  • Strong organizational skills using Agile development methodologies for managing the team’s work.
  • 5+ years of experience developing web applications with a concentration on UI development using leading edge UI frameworks.
  • 2+ years of experience in cloud application development utilizing microservices, Golang and OpenAI standards.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with the SAS Viya platform architecture and APIs.
  • Experience with the SAS Viya CI/CD pipeline and the PDLC guidelines.
