About the job
The Health and Life Sciences R&D Organization is looking for a Senior Software Performance Engineer, to join our team who will be accountable for designing, creating, implementing, and maintaining performance testing strategies across the HLS software products portfolio. You will collaborate closely with software developers, architects, technical support, product, and project managers to ensure the scalability, reliability, and responsiveness of our applications under various loads and help troubleshoot issues that might be impacting application performance in various test and production environments. You will also ensure the functional quality of the product while reducing time to market as we continue to release cloud-first, cloud-native, as-a-service offerings.
As a Senior Software Performance Engineer, you will:
- Craft, implement, and sustain high-caliber performance tests using LoadRunner and JMeter, automating them with advanced development practices.
- Deploy automated performance tests across the application stack, integrated within the continuous delivery pipeline, and deliver pivotal performance metrics for decision-making.
- Generate and scrutinize performance metrics to assess application robustness and foster insights that guide performance engineering.
- Collaborate extensively with cross-functional teams to embed performance considerations into all initiatives and expedite issue resolution through precise triage efforts.
- Act as a mentor and participate in code reviews, sharing expertise in performance testing tools and practices to enhance performance test scripts and infrastructure code.
- Ensure all applicable security policies and processes are followed to support the organization’s secure software development goals.
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience as a Software Performance Engineer.
- Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field, preferably in Computer Science or related field
- Extensive experience with load, stress, and performance testing using tools like LoadRunner and JMeter.
- Proficient in troubleshooting performance issues in various environments and maintaining CI/CD solutions.
- Strong knowledge of relational databases (Oracle, PostgreSQL, Snowflake), networking, and web application server technologies (Tomcat, Nginx, Apache).
- Fluent with REST Interfaces, OpenAPI specs, and public cloud interfaces.
- Skilled in Kubernetes components, cloud provider offerings, and managing container image versions within registries.
