About the job 

 

We’re looking for a Solutions Architect with strong cloud architecture skills that can manage multiple projects while collaborating with various groups within SAS. This role requires interaction with teams like Product Management and Product Marketing and applying what you learn from those interactions in sales engagements. We use customer sales engagements as an opportunity to share our knowledge with Field Sales and customers, helping sales teams to maximize revenue opportunities and ensure the highest levels of customer satisfaction. We take what we learn from sales engagements and share the information as feedback to key internal groups, like Product Management. 

 

As a Pre-Sales Solutions Architect, you will: 

 

  • Design SAS deployment architectures based on reference scenarios as well as specific customer scenarios. 
  • Install and manage SAS Viya environments for POCs and internal Global Technology Practice usage. 
  • Act as an internal early adopter of SAS Viya software to stay current on new capabilities, provide feedback for areas of improvement, and to validate real-world scenarios within the software. 
  • Document and share knowledge on insights gained through work with SAS Viya. 
  • Build a trusted relationship with key stakeholders within the groups that the Global Technology Practice interacts. This includes Product Marketing, Product Management, and Sales organizations. 
  • Provide practical and theoretical guidance to sales teams on the architectural components of proposed solution and set proper expectations to ensure customer satisfaction. 
  • Strategize with sales team on objectives for customer meetings, understands how this activity relates to overall sales plan and provides functional solution leadership for sales opportunities. 
  • Leverage knowledge of cloud architecture and SAS Viya to increase SAS’s credibility primarily in sales situations. 
  • Deliver standard, customized and/or strategic, senior level solution demonstrations and presentations outlining the functional capabilities, competitive advantages, and business benefits of the SAS solutions as they apply to client needs. 
  • Assist in the response to RFI/RFP’s utilizing the RFP Repository and crafting thorough and compelling answers. 
  • Provide reliable delivery of targeted project results through role as expert in the application of specific SAS methodologies, projects, and technologies. 
  • Participate in product and cloud training to acquire and maintain a detailed level of product knowledge of core components of SAS offerings and assigned cloud architectural areas. This includes how each offering addresses business challenges, competitive information to identify how our solution stands apart, and what challenges/limitations may be encountered. 
  • Understand, utilize and communicate best practice methodologies internally and externally. 
  • Provide support for regional business development activities and marketing events. 
  • Work proactively with Systems Engineers, Technical Architects, and other Solutions Architects to strategize on opportunities, cross-training, and knowledge transfer. 
  • Participates in workshops during requirements and design sessions. 
  • Participates in solution positioning 
  • Liaise with sales, pre-sales, technical support, and product management to determine best action to implement solutions in a customer environment 

 

Required Qualifications 

 

  • Demonstrates expertise in a specific domain, including technical sales engagements, publishing articles, leading demand generation initiatives, and presenting at technical conferences and events 
  • Minimum of five (5) years in systems engineering, project leadership, application development, technical architecture, and/or customer support 
  • Advanced knowledge in designing and architecting solutions across one or more cloud platforms. 
  • Strong facilitation and communication abilities to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders 
  • Familiarity with SAS technology, architecture, and resources is preferred, along with a solid understanding of sales strategies and cycles. 
  • Excellent decision-making abilities, combined with effective written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. 
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team 
  • Up to 25% travel, as business needs require 
  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Computer Science, or related field. An equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience may be considered in place of the requirements stated above.

 Preferred Qualifications 

  • Strong knowledge of Kubernetes for orchestration and management of containerized applications, including deployment, scaling, and troubleshooting. 
  • Experience with containerization tools such as Docker, including the ability to create and manage Docker images and containers. 
  • Familiarity with Red Hat OpenShift for building, deploying, and managing containerized applications in a Kubernetes environment. 
  • Understanding of microservices design principles and best practices, including service discovery, load balancing, and API management. 
  • Experience in setting up and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, or similar technologies to automate the software delivery process. 
  • Knowledge of networking concepts in cloud environments, including security best practices for cloud-native applications and data protection strategies.
