You'll be joinging the Applied AI Modelling (AAIM) team. Within SAS R&D, the team leads the design, development, and implementation of prebuilt model packages for SAS customers across many industries such as CPG, manufacturing, retail, insurance, among others.  

 

As an intern, you might: 

  • Build Generative AI models to solve the challenges of SAS customers using large language models (LLMs) and/or visual language models (VLMs). 
  • Use libraries like LangChain, LangSmith etc. to build applications leveraging LLMs and VLMs. 
  • Collaborate with data scientists and assist in prompt engineering, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) workflow to solve the business problems of SAS customers. 
  • Researching and developing high-quality demos to illustrate the application of Generative AI in solving practical problems. 
  • Optimize the deployment pipeline for Generative AI models. 
  • Part of a team of experts with different specialized skill sets including machine learning, deep learning, natural language processing, computer vision etc.  

 

Required Qualifications 

  • Degree Type: PhD or Master of Science (MS) student 
  • Targeted Majors: Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or closely related field 
  • Experience with Python, Generative AI foundation models like GPT or Llama or Claude models.  
  • You’re a college student enrolled in an accredited program, not graduating prior to December 2025. 
  • You’re curious, passionate, authentic, and accountable. These are our values and influence everything we do. 
  • Strong communication skills – both written and verbal. 
  • Leadership abilities. Your past experiences demonstrate you’ll take initiative and go above and beyond the call of duty. 
  • You’re interested in the future of Analytics and embrace technology. 

 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Experience developing and deploying Generative AI models, PyTorch, Tensor Flow, Nvidia CUDA or SAS. 
  • Experience with practical implementations of Generative AI and advanced analytics projects 
  • Experience with bash scripting, Docker and Kubernetes.

Pay Transparency: The hourly rate for SAS internships is determined by the applicant’s year in school and the position they are hired into. Hourly rates range from $15 – $31 for associate’s/bachelor’s level positions and $29 - $49/hour for master’s/Ph. D positions. Internship roles are not eligible for bonus.
