The HLS (Health and Life Science) DevOps team is responsible for creating and maintaining cloud (Azure, AWS and GCP) and on-prem (OpenStack) environments on the Health and Life Science side of the division. The team is also responsible for supporting the development and QA team in any environment and deployment-related issues. The team also creates and maintains automation in Jenkins and GitHub to eliminate any manual steps in deployments and managing environments.  

 

As an intern, you might: 

  • Help assist in creating environments in the cloud or on-prem for SAS Health and Clinical Acceleration products. 
  • Help automate deployment tasks using Python in Jenkins or using GitHub actions. 
  • Help document steps in deploying Clinical Acceleration in various environments such as AWS, Azure, OpenStack, etc. 
  • Help troubleshoot issues reported by the development and QA team related to environments and deployments for HLS products. 

 

Required Qualifications 

  • Degree Type: Associates, Bachelor’s, or Master’s 
  • Targeted majors: Computer Science 
  • You’re a college student enrolled in an accredited program, not graduating prior to December 2025.
  • Attend a university partnering with the Going for Gold program  
  • Any object-oriented language programming experience, such as C++, Java, Go, etc. 
  • Any scripting language experience, such as Python, Shell, or Batch scripting. 
  • Good documentation skills. Ex: using MS Word. 
  • Fast learner. Able to quickly learn the tools and processes and contribute to the team. 
  • You’re curious, passionate, authentic, and accountable. These are our values and influence everything we do. 
  • Strong communication skills – both written and verbal. 
  • Leadership abilities. Your past experiences demonstrate you’ll take initiative and go above and beyond the call of duty. 
  • You’re interested in the future of Analytics and embrace technology. 

 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Experience using Jira, GitHub, Jenkins, etc. 
  • Experience using public cloud technologies such as Azure, AWS, GCP, etc. 
  • Experience in Kubernetes, Docker, etc. 
  • Good troubleshooting skills in cloud environments and builds. 

 

Location   

  • This position is Hybrid at the SAS Cary HQ, with the option to be fully remote

Pay Transparency: The hourly rate for SAS internships is determined by the applicant’s year in school and the position they are hired into. Hourly rates range from $15 – $31 for associate’s/bachelor’s level positions and $29 - $49/hour for master’s/Ph.D positions. Internship roles are not eligible for bonus.
