About the job 

The Corporate Services team is looking for a Food Service Technician (Emerging Careers) to perform duties in the food preparation, delivery, service or cleanup in any or all areas of the Food Service Department. Interacts positively with customers and peers.

 

As a Food Service Technician (Emerging Careers), you will:  

  • Participates in menu planning, preparation of food, delivery of food or supplies, service of food, and/or cleanup in area of responsibility for efficient daily meal service.
  • Follows all health, food, and physical safety regulations in the preparation and storage of food and in cleanup of all areas of the cafe.
  • Provides consistently high levels of customer service at all times.
  • Assists in preparation and service of parties and other special functions.
  • Stores all foods in an orderly fashion in the proper environment.
  • Operates and maintains food service equipment. May maintain break station equipment and supplies.
  • Utilizes computer to stay informed about company news and policies.
  • May order food or supplies for area of responsibility.
  • May check in deliveries as received; delivers stock items as requested by café staff. Keeps inventory items rotated.
  • Perform all duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Two years of experience with food preparation in area of responsibility. Food service administrative experience preferred.
  • Formal coursework preferred, depending on area of assignment.
  • Equivalent combination of related education, training and experience may be considered in place of the above qualifications.
  • Knowledge of quantity cooking principles and food service sanitation standards.
  • Basic skills in reading, writing, and arithmetic.
  • Strong culinary skills.
  • Ability to use a knife in food prep.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Excellent customer service experience.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Basic food preparation skills, such as chopping vegetables, cooking at correct temperature, and presenting finished dish in an attractive manner.
  • Ability to follow and modify recipes.
  • Ability to operate quantity food service equipment, such as dish machine, mixer, oven, slicer, and food processor.
