About the job

The R&D Product Accessibility Team is looking for a Senior Accessibility Program Manager to help shape the evolution of, and drive accessibility efforts throughout R&D. We are on a mission to make the entire analytics lifecycle accessible, whether a person with a visual impairment needs to explore data visualizations through sonification, a customer needs to create interactive data-rich accessible reports, or a data scientist with a mobility impairment needs to build and deploy models. Our team continues to scale accessibility across dozens of product teams and push the boundaries of what is possible. The next evolution of our efforts will ensure that all Product Teams are making progress toward R&D-wide accessibility goals through well-defined processes, continuously shifting left. We are seeking a forward-thinking, determined, and innovative individual who is passionate about the intersection of accessibility and technology to help us achieve our goals. This position reports to the Director of Product Accessibility.

As a Senior Accessibility Program Manager, you will:  

  • Organize and facilitate multiple projects that will drive accessibility efforts across R&D.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Product Accessibility and divisional leaders throughout R&D to define milestones and deliverables for product accessibility conformance that align with R&D-wide accessibility
  • Drive accessibility efforts throughout R&D by building processes, managing communications, defining metrics, and reporting progress.
  • Evaluate program effectiveness, mitigate risks, seek strategic opportunities, and improve the efficiency of accessibility efforts.
  • Act as a central point of contact for all business and technical issues and work with interested parties across R&D to ensure program success.
  • Participate in educational opportunities; read professional publications; maintain networks and participate in professional organization to always be up to date on job knowledge.
  • Ensure all applicable security policies and processes are followed to support the organization’s secure software development goals.

Required Qualifications

  • Requires a minimum of 8 years of experience driving technical programs or initiatives across organizational boundaries in a large organization.
  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Engineering, Manufacturing, Business, Data Analysis or related field.
  • Equivalent combination of related education, training and experience may be considered in place of the above qualifications.
  • Effective communication skills at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to work effectively within a cross-functional team to meet shared goals.
  • Experience with Project Management tools, such as Jira and Confluence.
  • Experience with agile software development methodologies.
  • Excellent organizational and conflict resolution skills, attention to detail, a pragmatic approach, and a relentless improvement mindset.

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least 3 years incorporating accessibility requirements into the software development lifecycle.
  • An understanding of WCAG 2.2.
  • Familiarity with SAS products.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification desirable or equivalent professional training preferred.
