Our Education Visualization and Analytics Solution (EVAAS) provides educators with powerful analytics and visualizations for reflecting on practices and planning for students’ future needs and goals. Now more than ever, educators need reliable data and tools on students’ learning and future success. 

The EVAAS team is a specialized division at SAS that focuses exclusively on education solutions, and we partner with state education agencies and districts across the country to support their analytic, consulting, and reporting needs. Our mission is to provide educators with information to make sound instructional choices and use resources more strategically to ensure that every student has the best chance to succeed. 

As a Software Developer Intern on the SAS EVAAS (Education Visualization and Analytics System) team, you will be responsible for writing code that makes a difference in the lives of students and educators for each of our customers 

 

As an intern, you will: 

  • Help with the design of systems and processes that deliver the EVAAS web application to our customers in a scalable and repeatable fashion 
  • Develop tools and services for a Java ecosystem 
  • Develop automated tests to ensure highly reliable functionality 

Required Qualifications 

  • Degree Type: Currently pursuing a Master’s degree 
  • Targeted majors: Computer Science, Software Development, Computer Engineering 
  • You’re a college student enrolled in an accredited program, not graduating prior to December 2025. 
  • Must be highly organized and forward thinking 
  • You’re curious, passionate, authentic, and accountable. These are our values and influence everything we do. 
  • Strong communication skills – both written and verbal. 
  • Leadership abilities. Your past experiences demonstrate you’ll take initiative and go above and beyond the call of duty. 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Experience with GitExperience with Git Hooks is even better. 
  • Experience with MavenExperience writing a Maven Plugin is even better. 
  • Experience using GraalVM to build native images. 
  • Experience with GitHub Actions or similar CI/CD tools. 
  • A strong desire to dive into any of the above that you don’t have experience with. 
  • Ability to learn and adapt quickly and complete variety of tasks daily.

Pay Transparency: The hourly rate for SAS internships is determined by the applicant’s year in school and the position they are hired into. Hourly rates range from $15 – $31 for associate’s/bachelor’s level positions and $29 - $49/hour for master’s/Ph. D positions. Internship roles are not eligible for bonus.
