About the job
The SAS Health Care Center (HCC) is looking for a Family Nurse Practitioner to join our team! Since 1984, the HCC has proudly delivered the highest quality healthcare, whether managing complex chronic conditions, treating acute illnesses or injuries, or administering routine immunizations. And because we are a family practice, we care for all age groups, from newborns to geriatrics. The Family Nurse Practitioner provides on-site primary health care for employees and family members of all ages. Collaborates with HCC and specialty physicians and other health care providers as needed.
As a Family Nurse Practitioner, you will:
- Diagnoses, treats and manages acute and chronic illnesses and conditions.
- Performs physical exams and provides relevant patient education.
- Identifies health risks, performs disease screening, and implements early intervention to prevent or lessen the effects of disease and disability.
- Manages patient emergencies including triage, treatment, physician consultation as needed, referral, and emergency transport.
- Participates in after-hours call rotation. Refers Health Care Center primary care patients to appropriate sources of after-hours care.
- Maintains accurate, appropriate and timely documentation using an electronic health record and uses data to assess impact of care management.
- Develops and/or participates in health education/promotion programs for employees based on health risks and needs assessment of the employee population and relevant national health statistics.
- Performs nursing duties within the scope of practice of an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse as set forth by the NC Board of Nursing.
- Coordinates and leads special projects and wellness seminars.
- Participates in the creation, annual review and modification of a Collaborative Practice agreement.
- Consults and collaborates with physicians in accordance with a signed Collaborative Practice Agreement.
- Fulfills requirements of the rules of the Joint Subcommittee of the NC Board of Nursing and the NC Medical Board and the general statutes on which the rules are based.
- Performs other duties, as assigned
Required Qualifications
- Master's or higher level degree in Nursing required. Licensed as a Registered Nurse with approval to practice as a Nurse Practitioner by the joint subcommittee of the NC Board of Nursing and the NC Medical Board. Certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner/Certified Specialist by the American Nurses' Credentialing Center or the American Association of Nurse Practitioners.
- Typically requires five years of experience providing primary health care to individuals of all ages in a family practice setting. Candidates who have previous experience in Pediatrics and/or Psych Mental Health experience will be given preference.
- Equivalent combination of related education, training and experience may be considered in place of the above qualifications.
