About the job

As a Sr DevOps Engineer, you will be part of the SAS Software-as-a-Service team at the forefront of building the foundation and platform that supports SAS’s future cloud offerings and will drive development and deployment of SAS’s most exciting, new product, SAS® Viya® Workbench. As a leader of the DevOps team and member of a dynamic team of individuals, you will be responsible for development and deployment of our product. You will be responsible for developing a vision and path to improve the code-to-release pipeline, making it a world class DevOps experience that works well in concert with other SAS Software-as-a-Service offerings.  You will lead a group of passionate, creative engineers to build that vision and, of course, develop software. The role involves developing a vision for the future, working with other teams at SAS to make that vision work in concert with other SaaS products, software development, automation development, and executing deployment technologies for multiple cloud providers.  This opportunity is an excellent opportunity to learn, grow, and contribute to the future of SAS.

As a Senior DevOps Engineer, you will:

• Guide the conception of, design, and implementation of a world class approach to CI/CD automation and deployment pipeline of this SaaS Product.
• Work with teams at SAS to design deployment that fits well with other products.
• Technically lead a team to design and develop CI/CD pipeline features.
• Scope product requirements, estimate effort, and help plan release schedules.
• Participate in and lead sprint goals as part of a collaborative Agile/Scrum team.
• Participate in all stages of the continuous development lifecycle - including design, development, testing, deployment, and support.
• Ensure quality by creating and maintaining unit tests.
• Provide support of the product to internal customers.
• Collaborate with technical writers to share information with end users in the form of product documentation, videos, and/or white papers.
• Ensure all applicable security policies and processes are followed to support the organization’s secure software development goals.

Required Qualifications

• 8 years of experience working on large complex software products as a developer.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related quantitative field.
• Experience in working with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience in building effective CI/CD pipelines and automation.
• Proficiency in deploying and managing applications and infrastructure on either the AWS (Amazon Web Services) or Microsoft Azure cloud platforms.
• Experience with GitHub workflows.
• Experience with Terraform or other Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools, to manage and automate cloud infrastructure.
• Experience with LINUX and/or UNIX operating systems.
• Demonstrated experience with CI/CD and associated tools like Jenkins, Git, Gerrit and Linux commands.

Preferred qualifications

• Proficiency in Go, Python, Bicep and Bash
