About the job

The Food Services team is looking for a Food Service Technician (Eary Careers) that will work primarily with on-site break stations, food-to-go, and catering.

 

As a Food Service Technician (Emerging Careers), you will:

  • Stock break stations with snacks as well as stock and maintain coffee and soda machines in the break rooms.
  • Deliver food and supplies to and from cafes, break stations, food to go areas, and catering functions across campus in a company vehicle. 
  • Stock food and beverages in food to go areas across campus.
  • Follow all health, food, and physical safety regulations in the preparation and storage of food and in cleanup of all areas of the cafe.
  • Provide consistent high levels of customer service at all times.
  • Assist in preparation and service of parties and other special functions.
  • Store all foods and supplies in an orderly fashion in the proper environment.
  • Keep inventory items rotated.
  • Operate and maintain food service equipment. May maintain break station equipment and supplies.
  • May order food or supplies for area of responsibility.
  • May check in deliveries as received; delivers stock items as requested by café staff.
  • May act as company link between SAS Food Services and third-party vendors.
  • Drive company vehicle to pick up or deliver food and supplies.
  • Report any maintenance issues of equipment and company vehicle to appropriate parties.
  • Utilizes computer to stay informed about company news and policies.

 

Required Qualifications

  • One year experience in food service.
  • Ability to lift and move heavy objects up to 50 pounds, if in area of responsibility; ability to work in hot kitchen or with hot water; ability to stand at work table or serving line up to seven hours a day.
  • Work requires bending, twisting, and lifting objects from carts onto loading docks and into and out of company vans.
  • Equivalent combination of related education, training and experience may be considered in place of the above qualifications.
  • Ability to drive SAS Company van. Valid driver’s license is required for this position.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to operate quantity food service equipment, such as dish machine, mixer, slicer, oven, and food processor
  • ServSafe Certified
  • Knowledge of bean-to-cup coffee and fountain soft drink machines a plus.
