About the job 

We’re looking for an IT Project Manager to drive cross-divisional, global, observability and monitoring projects specific to IT as a business function at SAS. As a part of SAS’ Cloud and Information Services (CIS) division you will partner with stakeholders to design and deliver monitoring solutions that enhance visibility, performance, and reliability across internal IT services and externally facing services for SAS customers. To be successful in this role, you must have the ability to lead & manage projects effectively across multiple global teams, develop partnerships with all levels in the organization, effectively communicate, and drive timely decision-making.

 

As an IT Observability and Monitoring Project Manager, you will:

  • Partner with global stakeholders to translate the ITIL-aligned observability and monitoring strategy into a focused set of projects that improve service performance and reliability. This will start with end-to-end monitoring and incident management with Datadog and ServiceNow.
  • Maintain a living roadmap of these projects and adjust based on shifting business priorities, industry trends and/or technologies.
  • Be accountable for attainment of overall project goals while effectively managing scope and stakeholder expectations.
  • Maintain project documentation including updates to the project portfolio, plans, schedules & status reports. Communicate project details regularly to stakeholders & leadership.  Lead presentations related to projects, as requested.
  • Collaborate effectively with global stakeholders and technical teams to define shared goals, align implementation strategies, and resolve project issues related to risk, cost, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Determine resource needs and coordinate requests for personnel, tools, and technologies.
  • Establish a budget & delivery schedule, based on project requirements and in consultation with stakeholders and team members.
  • Engage with 3rd party vendors on the implementation approach, as needed.
  • Use a variety of techniques and tools to capture business needs and requirements that create an accurate representation of both the business and technical processes.
  • Ensure business readiness for go-live by preparing stakeholders for solution adoption, including the rollout of new processes and delivery of train-the-trainer sessions for new systems.

Required qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience leading large, complex, observability and monitoring projects in either a project or program management role with proven success in leading cross-functional teams and influencing stakeholders without direct authority.
  • Working knowledge of Datadog, Zabbix, and ServiceNow ITOM.
  • Experience with cloud architectures and hybrid cloud.
  • Global business perspective. Previous experience managing global teams is a plus.
  • Experience with Atlassian tools such as Jira & Confluence.
  • Experience producing project collateral such as business process visualizations, user experience journeys, etc.
  • Proven ability to follow change management and change control practices.
  • Demonstrated experience with ITIL (Information Technology Information Library)
  • Proven ability to lead teams and balances needs of multiple global stakeholders.
  • Capable of resolving problems with minimal management assistance; escalates appropriately.
  • Poses knowledge of industry trends related to observability and monitoring.
  • Strong negotiation, facilitation & presentation skills.
  • Excellent organization, planning and communication skills.

Preferred qualifications

  • Project Management certification
  • ITIL certification
  • Agile certification or proven experience managing projects in an agile fashion including standups, backlog grooming, retrospectives, etc.
  • Experience with FedRAMP and government cloud projects.
