About the job

The Software Globalization team is looking for a Software Development- Internationalization Manager specializing in Internationalization to report directly to the Globalization Director and spearhead all Internationalization initiatives at SAS. In this role, you will collaborate closely with Localization teams, Development, Product Management, and other partners to ensure our products and services are global ready. You will also champion internationalization best practices with senior leadership and serve as a key resource for researching and implementing our multilingual Gen AI roadmap. This critical role offers significant exposure to leadership across the organization. The ideal candidate is based in the East Coast and is flexible working with a geographically diverse team to develop world-class, multilingual software.

As a Software Development- Internationalization Manager you will:

  • Guide team in day-to-day operations and priorities, including hiring, training, delegating work assignments, reviewing performance, and giving feedback.
  • Lead team in agile planning, scoping and refining work then breaking down stories into more granular tasks for scheduling.
  • Spearhead Internationalization (i18n) best practices across R&D product teams to ensure the delivery of global ready software and documentation.
  • Partner with Localization Operations to develop and support continuous localization pipelines for enterprise-level operations.
  • Collaborate with R&D product teams to build scalable internationalization frameworks and accelerate the implementation of multi-lingual features.
  • Leverage the power of GenAI-powered tools, libraries, or IDE plug-ins to streamline internationalization tasks, and provide automated solutions for development teams, accelerating global readiness.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with cross-functional teams within SAS to ensure streamlined collaboration and operational efficiency.  
  • Ensure all applicable security policies and processes are followed to support the organization’s secure software development goals.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
  • 10+ years in software development and/or internationalization, including one year of management experience. 
  • Equivalent combination of related education, training and experience may be considered in place of the above qualifications.
  • Experience in Character Encoding, Transcoding, Unicode, CLDR.
  • Experience in CI/CD and DevOps using GitHub, Jenkins, Azure DevOps or similar tools.
  • Experience in multiple development languages (SAS, Python, Go, Java, C, C++)
  • Experience with collaboration tools such as Jira and Confluence and GitHub Enterprise

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience leading agile projects to deliver high quality, scalable, performant and secure code.
  • Experience integrating AI platforms, frameworks, and APIs into customer-facing products or engineering processes.
  • Familiarity with Translation Management Systems and Neural Machine Translation (NMT) is a plus.
  • Experience with Machine Learning or Large Language Models, including experience in prompt engineering.
  • Proficiency with all aspects of the software development lifecycle
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to develop creative solutions to complex problems and strong decision-making ability
  • Ability to adjust working hours to accommodate a variety of time zones
  • Knowledge of at least one foreign language is a plus.
  • Familiarity with SAS products and their applications is a plus
