About the job 

The Deployments team within the SAS9 division is seeking a Software Developer to help design, write and maintain innovative tools for empowering businesses with seamless SAS 9 enterprise deployments. The team focuses on securing, modernizing, improving quality and resolving issues for our enterprise deployment tools. In this role, you’ll design, develop, and update scalable, maintainable software, troubleshoot issues, and work with SAS Technical Support to assist customers. This is a key opportunity to contribute to a suite of tools that underpin a broad range of SAS products.

 

As a Software Developer (Java), you will: 

  • Write tools to deploy enterprise software.
  • Support the configuration of complex solutions.
  • Utilize various programming languages like Java, Apache ANT, Groovy, bash, Windows PowerShell & batch scripting.
  • Be able to work on various operating systems including Windows and Unix
  • Be able to debug complex systems across multiple application layers and operating systems.
  • Be encouraged to participate in open-source projects on behalf of SAS.
  • Ensures all applicable security policies and processes are followed to support the organization’s secure software development goals.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of software development experience with strong programming skills in Java, Apache ANT, Groovy.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related quantitative field.
  • Proficient with Windows and Unix/Linux systems; able to troubleshoot effectively.
  • Experience with Git or other source code management tools
  • Able to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Ability to adapt to new technologies and shifting priorities.
  • Motivated, eager to learn, and proactive in problem-solving.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Jira, Git, Gerrit, Jenkins, and Confluence experience
  • Proficient in Python scripting
  • Skilled in Bash, PowerShell, and batch scripting
