About the job

 

The Benchmarking and Sizing team is seeking a Senior Solution Architect- Sizing to lead the creation of precise, scalable hardware sizing estimates for SAS platforms across cloud, on-premises, and hybrid environments. In this global role, you'll collaborate with product, R&D, and customer advisory teams to design performance-driven sizing algorithms and deliver key services like Sizing Guides, Questionnaires, and a Self-Service Calculator—empowering pre-sales teams and enhancing the customer experience.

As a Senior Solution- Sizing Architect, you will:

  • Service bespoke customer requests using sizing tools, standards, and technical expertise.
  • Create and maintain accurate, scalable sizing estimates for SAS platforms and solutions.
  • Support sizing across diverse deployment environments including cloud, on-premises, and hybrid infrastructures.
  • Design and validate complex sizing algorithms informed by performance metrics and architecture.
  • Deliver sizing estimates through standardized Sizing Services such as guides, questionnaires, and calculators.
  • Support benchmarking initiatives to refine sizing assumptions and performance estimations.
  • Automate workflows using SAS and open-source programming languages like Python and Bash, while providing mentorship and leadership within the team.
  • Ensure all applicable security policies and processes are followed to support the organization’s secure software development goals.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related quantitative field.
  • Minimum of eight (8) years of experience in one or more of the following: Cloud Architect, System Engineer, Performance Engineer, DevOps Engineer, Solutions/Enterprise/Platform Architect.
  • An equivalent combination of related education, training and experience may be considered in place of the above qualifications.
  • Experience analyzing and interpreting CPU, memory, disk subsystem and networking to accurately model performance, scalability, and resource utilization across diverse deployment environments.
  • Understanding of Kubernetes on cloud platforms, Azure AKS preferred, followed by AWS, GCP, OpenShift, and open source)
  • Ability to think analytically, question assumptions, evaluate evidence, and communicate solutions
  • Experience translating customer feedback into technical solutions
  • Experience leading and/or support multiple projects using effective planning, time management, accountability, and communication for successful completion

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience using GenAI to assist and expedite job responsibilities such as, document development, code generation, data manipulation, etc.
  • Knowledge of SAS platform offerings, configurations, and Viya 4 architecture
  • Knowledge of SAS software, analytics, machine/deep learning, and deployment models
  • Programming skills in SAS and/or Python (related languages a plus)
  • Power user knowledge of operating systems (Linux variants, Windows); awareness of Linux internals
