About the job
The Government Sales Division is looking for a Senior State and Local Government and Education (SLED) Account Executive to sell into Iowa, Minnesota and Wisconsin government and education accounts. You will engage with state and education leaders to align SAS’ analytics and big data solutions with key priorities, improving outcomes and operational efficiency. The ideal candidate will have experience building relationships and communicating with state and local education agencies to solve complex analytics problems. You'll support solutions that make a real difference for policymakers and government.
As a Senior State and Local Government and Education (SLED) Account Executive, you will:
- Sell software, solutions and services to current and prospective customers; works with other sales/pre-sales/domain/personnel to position and leverage sales opportunities to acquire, grow and retain customers within assigned territory.
- Fulfill wide range of requests for information from prospective customers. Qualifies level of opportunity and resources required.
- Prospect within a territory or account to uncover business needs.
- Implement aspects of territory and account management and development; identifies accounts with high "close" potential, qualifies, advances opportunity through milestone steps of sales cycle and forecast time frames to close business within Orion.
- Prepare standard quotations and proposal information as needed; works with other departments to create and finalize contracts and set time schedules for delivery services.
- Follow up with customers to track satisfaction levels and to discover additional revenue opportunities.
- Develop a basic understanding of company pricing, licensing procedures and approvals matrix.
- Ensure all applicable security policies and processes are followed to support the organization’s secure software development goals.

Required qualifications
- Bachelor's degree, preferably in Business, Marketing, MIS, or other relevant discipline.
- Requires a minimum of eight years of experience in the sales, marketing, or technical support of computer software solutions (including related training products and services), computer hardware, or telecommunications software/hardware. Specific industry related experience may be considered in combination with the above requirements.
- Must live in Wisconsin, Iowa, or Minnesota.
- Must have strong State and Local Government domain knowledge.
- Equivalent combination of related education, training and experience may be considered in place of the above qualifications.
