You will engage with state and education leaders to align SAS’ analytics and big data solutions with key priorities, improving outcomes and operational efficiency. The ideal candidate will have experience building relationships and communicating with state and local education agencies to solve complex analytics problems. You'll support solutions that make a real difference for policymakers and government.

As a Senior SLED Account Executive, you will:

  • Work with a team, including a lobbying firm, focused on Iowa, Minnesota and Wisconsin to sell software, solutions and services to current and prospective customers in a variety of subject matter areas; work with other sales support personnel to position and leverage sales opportunities to acquire, grow and retain customers within the assigned territory.
  • Manage a broad base of existing customers, focusing on superior customer service and customer retention.
  • Fulfill a wide range of information requests from prospective customers to determine the level of opportunity and interest in the account.
  • Prospect within the territory and within individual accounts to uncover business needs.
  • Implement territory and account management strategies that lead to revenue growth and development. Focus on accounts with high "close" potential. Identify and execute daily action items. Accurately forecast time frames to close business.
  • Follow up with customers to track satisfaction levels and discover additional revenue opportunities.
  • Develop a basic understanding of SAS pricing and licensing procedures.
  • Track policy, regulations, legislation, and budgets in the territory.
  • Ensures all applicable security policies and processes are followed to support the organization's secure software development goals.
  • Embrace curiosity, passion, authenticity and accountability. These are our values and influence everything we do.

Required qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 5 years of experience working in Iowa, Wisconsin or Minnesota State and Local Government, or selling software solutions into these states.
  • Experience with state procurement rules.
  • Ability to analyze and evaluate account dynamics, develop a sales plan, and accurately forecast.
  • Effective and polished communicator capable of engaging audiences of varying levels, including C-level customers and elected officials
  • Equivalent combination of related education, training and experience may be considered in place of the above qualifications.

Additional competencies, knowledge and skills

  • Creating demand through insight. Identifying the targeted account’s business challenges and needs and their probable causes; providing and provoking convincing insights that compel decision makers to discover or reconsider unrecognized problems and opportunities and the value of addressing them with new solutions to achieve better long-term results (e.g., profitability, revenue, market share).
  • Leveraging a winning sales strategy. Developing and implementing an influence strategy and a value proposition that differentiates products and services, resonates with decision makers, encourages them to further define issues and solutions, and motivates them to take action.
  • Qualifying sales. Accurately evaluating sales opportunities to determine the future value of that customer; assessing the customer’s interest and commitment to buy and implement solutions as well as own organization’s ability to deliver those solutions.
