About the job 

The Global Customer Advisory team is looking for a Principal Solutions Advisor to drive the SAS solution strategy for Model Risk Management and AI Governance within its Risk, Fraud and Compliance division. The role is responsible for driving the vision, strategy, and innovation within SAS’ solutions and providing industry-relevant thought leadership to a global customer base. The role will be to work closely with product management, industry consultants, pre-sales systems engineers, customers, and R&D to define solutions based on market needs and customer demands to continue the growth of our business.

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Forges trusted advisor relationship with customers (at the executive and management level) by understanding business and technical needs to identify areas in which SAS can provide value and return on investment through customer-facing interactions and demonstrations.
  • Establishes reputation as a recognized expert by maintaining and proving deep knowledge of concepts, external market trends, and the competitive landscape.
  • Provides functional solution leadership for sales opportunities, with the overarching purpose of meeting SAS revenue goals.
  • Provides significant support in ensuring customer adoption, and ultimately satisfaction, at every step in the customer lifecycle.
  • Leverages knowledge of a domain, industry, and domain- and industry-specific solutions to increase confidence in SAS (across industries, predominantly Financial Services).
  • Participates in discovery meetings to collect, analyze, clarify, and document business requirements during the sales cycle to ensure alignment with SAS solution capabilities.
  • Delivers standard, customized and/or strategic, executive level solution demonstrations and presentations outlining the functional capabilities, competitive advantages and business benefits of the SAS solutions as they apply to client needs.
  • Participates in product and solution training to acquire and maintain a detailed level of product knowledge of core components of SAS offerings and assigned solution areas, how each solution addresses business challenges, competitive information to identify how our solution stands apart, and what challenges/limitations may be encountered.
  • Participates in or leads support and/or delivery of customized Proofs of Concept and pilot projects.
  • Provides demonstration and business development support at analyst presentations, vendor-sponsored events, trade shows, and user group meetings.
  • Coordinates with other SAS resources (such as Customer Knowledge Center, Tech Support, Product Management, Product Marketing, GTP, PSD, Customer Success) to provide the best team for a given opportunity
  • Develop best practices documentation and provide business and technical leadership by contributing and sharing information with peers
  • Contributes and/or reviews proposals, documentation, publications, and course materials.
  • Be a de-facto subject matter expert, providing guidance and coaching to customer resources to accomplish software roll out
  • Develop and contribute industry best practices based on the software roll-out and field experiences and use them to help improve the product
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

As a Principal Solutions Advisor, you will:  

  • Provides executive-level sales strategy.
  • Applies extensive knowledge of SAS products and solutions for sales opportunities.
  • Assist the sales team with complex solution sales activities.
  • Uses domain/industry/solution expertise to lead pre-sales activities.
  • May also assist during implementation/design.

Required Qualifications

  • A minimum of twelve years of technical sales, systems engineering, project management, applications development and/or customer support.
  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Business, Risk Management, Statistics, Data Science, Business, Computer Science, or related field.
  • An equivalent combination of related education, training and experience may be considered in place of the above qualifications.
  • Demonstrated thought leader in a single domain or industry (publishes articles, leads demand generation activities, and speaking engagements in the business track at conferences/events).
  • Strong facilitation and communications skills.
  • Must have expert knowledge of SAS technology, architecture, and resources.
  • Demonstrated understanding of sales strategies and cycles.
  • Superior problem solving, organizational, decision-making written, oral and interpersonal skills. · Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Travel as business requirements dictate at management discretion.
