What you’ll do

Looking for *that* internship? The game-changing one that’ll help you learn, grow, and chart your path forward? You’ll find it at SAS. Our interns aren’t coffee runners – they do real, meaningful work. Our award-winning internship program is focused on development, culture, and community. We’ll help you grow professionally, find (or further) your passion, and make memorable connections that last beyond the summer.

The SAS Global Academic Program is responsible for helping train the next generation of analytics talent at colleges and universities across the globe. We directly support faculty and students by creating hands-on teaching assets, applied analytics projects, and digital learning experiences that bring modern analytics to life in the classroom.

As an intern, you might:

  • Help develop digital learning assets that highlight the power of SAS as both a programming language and an end-to-end analytics platform (e.g., applied projects, SAS On-the-Job–style activities, and hands-on tutorials).

  • Update existing academic assets to align with the most current version of SAS Viya, ensuring materials remain current, classroom-ready, and engaging for students and faculty.

  • Contribute to the creation of short-form educational videos for SAS Viya for Learners and SAS Viya Workbench—including scripting, storyboarding, and (ideally) on-camera recording.

  • Support outreach to faculty by helping communicate why and how SAS Viya tools fit into modern analytics curricula and co-curricular learning experiences.

Required Qualifications

  • You are a Master's or Bachelor's student studying Statistics, Data Science, STEM Education, Social Science, Technology, Business, Marketing Analytics, or a related field; not graduating prior to December 2026.
  • Comfort explaining technical concepts to others, whether through teaching, tutoring, presentations, documentation, or recorded content.
  • Foundational experience using SAS software through an academic course, independent study, or professional role.
  • You’re curious, passionate, authentic and accountable. These are our values and influence everything we do.
  • Strong communication skills – both written and verbal.
  • Leadership abilities. Your past experiences demonstrate you’ll take initiative and go above and beyond the call of duty.
  • You’re interested in the future of data and AI and embrace technology.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Teaching or instructional support experience (e.g., TA roles, tutoring, workshop facilitation, curriculum development, or instructional design).
  • Demonstrated interest in how students learn analytics, including ideas for making new technology approachable and engaging.
  • Experience creating digital content such as short videos, demos, walkthroughs, or narrated tutorials (recording experience is a plus, not a requirement).
  • Familiarity with SAS Viya for Learners, SAS Viya Workbench, or similar cloud-based analytics platforms.

Location

  • Cary HQ/Hybrid preferred

Timeline

  • Applications open: February 2026 - Applications will open on a rolling basis
  • Interviews begin:  February 2026
  • Internship: May 19, 2026 – August 7, 2026.

Perks of the job

  • Work with (and learn from) the best. As a SAS intern, you’ll get face time with our top executives!
  • Free SAS programming training and certification.
  • At SAS, flexible work is the norm. Want to work remotely? That’s cool. Prefer a hybrid mix of sweatpants and in-person collaboration? That’s great, too.
  • We work hard, but we like to play hard, too. Enjoy hackathons, social events and other opportunities to connect + engage.
  • Your well-being matters, and that’s why we support all dimensions of your well-being by offering programs that reduce stress and distractions to help you stay healthy and productive.  This includes an on-site and remote Work/Life Center staffed by master’s level social workers and an Employee Assistance Program.

Diverse and inclusive

At SAS, it’s not about fitting into our culture – it’s about adding to it. We believe our people make the difference. Our diverse workforce brings together unique talents and inspires teams to create amazing software that reflects the diversity of our users and customers. Our commitment to diversity is a priority to our leadership, all the way up to the top; and it’s essential to who we are. To put it plainly: you are welcome here.
